09:25 AM ET 07.31 | With the arrival of Lebron James, the Miami Heat rapidly sold out all their season tickets. That turned out to be bad news for the ticket-sales staff, which was fired Friday. In a statement, the Heat confirmed the dismissals Friday afternoon, saying that with an ``exhausted'' inventory of season-tickets ``we no longer require a season ticket sales team to sell tickets.'' Stephen Weber, vice president of sales, delivered the news to about 30 ticket sales people Friday morning, according to one of the staffers who asked not to be named because he is seeking another job in sports. The dismissals reflect the new Heat position in basketball: it can sell tickets without really trying.

When your paying 3 guys the amount they are you gotta pinch pennies everywhere else you can. But I'd think those 3 playing in Miami would create job opportunities, not get a whole bunch of people fired.

Wow, you think you're helping by selling some tickets and then WHAM! You're fired because of it!

I agree. Can I see a show of hands of people that want to see this team fall a part from the inside and fail.

What kind of incentive is that to sell all the tickets? Isn't it their job to sell all the tickets? And then they do and as you say its WHAM out the door you go?

Not ever having been a fan of LBJ, I kinda hope that happens. I certainly wouldn't be mad!

I'm Down!

I guess we can add 30 more people to the legions that already hate LeBron. Even people that have suddenly jumped on the bandwagon don't want to be identified. I can't wait to see the reaction after they lose 2 in a row.

It's just business, Bro.

July 31, 2010  11:39 AM ET

I guess that the lesson learned here is that you need to lie when customers call asking for season tickets. You tell tham that you're already sold out when you're not so that tickets are always still available and you keep your job!

Do you think deep down Lebron's self-doubt is festering inside? Growing like a malignant cyst?

It's like that guy in high school who was so damn cocky to cover up his cerebral deficiencies, only to be exposed in the "real world."

I think Lebron may actually be one of the least intelligent superstars to ever play the game.

They had to see it coming those guys are going to sell tickets themselves, maybe you should transfer to the Marlins they need an army to help sell tickets.

Not if you're one of the 30 guys. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Can't they keep these guys in other positions? That's insane.
