10:03 AM ET 07.31 | The Calgary Flames are turning to sports psychologist Dave Paskevich to help win the head games. The Flames have hired Paskevich, whose speciality is applied sports psychology, to be their mental development coach. He won't be skating or shooting, but the University of Calgary professor may be a huge help in preventing those losing skids and scoring slumps.

Is the psychologist there to work with the ownership and diving in to the real deep issues...like why do you keep Sutters around and when do you think they will do anything right and how long are you going to deal with their ineptitude.

The shrink needs to start with the whole Sutter clan. They need the most help with the head games. All the players need is to be hypnotized to believe they are playing for Al Arbor and Scotty Bowman.

I concur ND but I think Paskevich is a Sutter brother-in-law. (And you thought the Sutter boys were ugly!)

Oiler fans love these kind of stories...

Mercifully, HC is a little tied up for the weekend. This kind of story would deffinetely throw some cold water on his .. ahem ... flame if he went to T&R.

Thought the same thing. Too bad we can't get HC's input on this one. It looked custom-made for him. Canuck probably guessed right when he said they hired one of the Sutter's in-law.

Don't worry! The interns will recycle it just in time to ruin his vacation when he gets back on Tuesday.

We just can't let this opportunity pass . If HC's getting his 7 seconds of fun this weekend I'm gonna get mine. The guy was actually hired to coaxe Flame fans off the ledge or plays center better than anything they've got or working with Feaster to keep him away from the buffet table. Help me out DC you are better at this than I am :-)

Actually I believe he was hired to hypnotize season ticket holders into believing that the Sutters are the Messiahs and renew their season tickets

You can always count on Swamps and Canuck to step into the gap! LOL!

Danny got the ax but ... Richie Hall remains as coach? Unbelievable! I guess we can expect more of the same from the Esks in weeks to come.

I hear he does artificial insemination of live stock. If sticking your entire arm up a mare's (or cow's) birth canal qualify as bestiality, NASCAR fans should be very happy! LOL!

Yup to that DC - if **** qualifies as s-e-x, that is. I still say it's simpler to excise all Sutters, and hire Ted Nolan and Niedermeyer (not Oscar variety) to Coach - 86 Feastor too, if he can't get on board, and bump 'Needs' up to GM.

You don't hear Ted's name anymore when vacancy's arise .What did he do to get blackballed anyways

Calgary needs an old priest and a young priest to perform an excorcist to expunge the evil of the Sutters.

True! But, that requires real leadership and it's as messy as artifically inseminating a cow! Far easier to get a shrink with a roll of duct tape to keep things together for a while and hope for the best.

Do I dare say it out loud? In one word: Race! I followed Ted Nolan's career over the years. He's as capable and competent as anyone to coach in the NHL. He more than proved himself. The only "problem" is that he is a member of the First Nations.

I'm ashamed to say it but, the NHL still is, almost exclusively, a white man's domain. Sure, there are a few token black and native players and a few from other races in the NHL but very few.

I've seen first hand what these (non white) kids have to go through to play hockey with or against white kids all over Canada. And I cover a lot of territory! Go to any game where native kids play against white boys from Vegreville to Vermillion to Lloydminster to Grand Prairie to Lac La Biche and, you'll be sick to your stomach for days. Racism is rampant! From coaches to referees to the parents to the crowds at the arenas. The racial epithets, the hatred, the insults and the abuse, even from on ice officials, these kids have to put up with is unbelievable.

I've seen it with mine own eyes and ... I get sick just thinking about it! And, if somehow you manage to survive ... you need not apply for leadership possitions in the NHL. If you're not white, you're just not good enough. It's the white boys domain.
