Belichick ignite Vikings feud

Vikings coach Brad Childress basically accused the Patriots of signing linebacker David Herron out of spite last week, and the Pats did little to dispel that notion by cutting him yesterday. According to an interview Childress conducted with a Minneapolis radio station on Sept. 2, he received a threatening phone call from Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who had gotten wind that the Vikings were preparing to sign tight end Garrett Mills. The Pats wanted Mills, who they had cut, for their practice squad, and Belichick said that if the Vikings signed him, then the Pats might have to sign some Vikings.

Bunch of little girls pulling hair. Grow up already.

September 12, 2007  08:37 AM ET

How about that pic? The NY media like to call BB "The Hooded Claw," and he certainly looks it there. Hmmm...is Bill Belichick the new Michael Vick, without the race element? Is he the bad-guy of the week?

September 12, 2007  08:53 AM ET

anyone who doesn't have blinders on or drink the 'kool-aid' has long known this guy to be a ****. but it's the Vikings, so who really cares.

September 12, 2007  09:00 AM ET

i like the vikes, but after what minn pulled on seattle 2-3 years back, they can just shut up when it comes to signing other teams players.

if they arent happy with the pats over this, then do what needs to be done. but crying in the papers aint the thing to do.

More good sportsmanship from the master. Eat your heart out, Al Davis!

(Hey, Bill, it never rains, but it pours, eh? Ya moron.)

September 12, 2007  09:32 AM ET

EVERYONE hates a winner... What teams do you guys root for that you hate the Pat's so much. Is there a little bit of jealousy going on!!!!???

September 12, 2007  09:46 AM ET

Everyone hates a cheater.Jealousy my arse. This thread is crap and Jazinho BS is right!

September 12, 2007  10:01 AM ET

It's the cheating and artificial posturing that the Pats are "champions" when they're not that I hate. Belichick must have some psychological problems.

September 12, 2007  10:02 AM ET

Yes, X, the rest of the NFL is jealos that an already talented team has been cheating to gain more of an advantage. We all wish that we were cheaters and liars.

There's no doubt that the Patriots would be a good team without cheating. Thery are stacked now, but for years they pulled out games and stayed competitive with nobodies.

There's also no doubt that in the game of football, it only takes a couple plays to completely turn around a game. I know 'everyone does it' but they Patriots apparently repeatedly did it in a fashion that is not allowed.

Any team that does that should be punished severely, Not just the Pats. But so far, contrary to what Patriot fans will have you believe, no other team has been doing it illegally.

Belichick is a Classless Punk. He is always getting mad at everyone, acting better than everyone.....I cant wait until this guy is suspended. It is going to be so funny. I am tired of hearing him complain all the time.

September 12, 2007  10:17 AM ET

The Patriots are quickly becoming NFL's version of the Yankees...The Evil Empire. lol Why is this even such a big deal

September 12, 2007  10:18 AM ET

Another scum-bag move from a shady guy.

September 12, 2007  10:21 AM ET

Using banned substances, videotaping the sidelines, making phone threats. Whats next for this team?? Murder?? I'm starting to wonder if they were in on Vick dogfighting ring. They probably videotaped there too.

September 12, 2007  10:25 AM ET

What an ****. You can't call another coach and threaten him. Any NFL team is free to sign any player they want. If you wanted the guy then don't cut him Belichick. I would rather my team never win a Super Bowl than win one with an **** like this as the coach.

September 12, 2007  10:29 AM ET

I agree with shanedenver. Signing other teams players is fine, it's part of the game, but to call teh other coaches and threaten them, grow up a little witll you. He's also taping signals wow, what a class act guy (not really). When you've got a good team do you need to add the cheat factor in there. I wonder how long they have been doing this, I'm sure it's not the first time. Any Super Bowls come into question? Anyone can win games if you know what play is coming.

September 12, 2007  10:36 AM ET

Belichick is one of those guys who would play you in Madden but wouldn't put in his defensive play until you selected your play. You'd have to tilt your controller away from him all the time.

September 12, 2007  10:36 AM ET

Sign unsingned players is all part of the business. Calling another coach to threaten them is ridiculous. Let's also throw in there the video taping signals and Belichick is turning into quite a class act guy (not really). The Pats are good, do they need to cheat too? Maybe they aren't as good as we all think they are, and have been, if they've been cheating the last number of years. Anyone else wonder if their Super Bowls are tainted as well?

September 12, 2007  11:11 AM ET

Is this the Junior High League? I would say they sound like a couple girls in a cat fight, but that would be politically incorrect...so I won't.

I wonder how Bilichick knew the Vikings were preparing to sign Garret Mills? Probably got it video taped from the sideline.

Go Vikes...Randy too!

September 12, 2007  11:16 AM ET

Omg what in the world, is this kiddy league? I mean u release the guy and another team wanna sign him, you cant do much about it, if u were this afraid of that guy goin' to another team then maybe you shouldnt have signed him in the first place.
