How exactly do the two of them relate? Does BB really think that teams want one or the other can't decide or will wait to see where Kovalchuk will end up before making a move for Kaberle? The market picking up for Kaberle means that Chiarelli will add a bag of pucks to his original offer of a 6th-round pick and a stick rack.

This is really getting to Brian. On Saturday at a golf tournament he was overheard calling his stint in Vancouver "the good old days."

Well, he had the 'old' part right.

Who was he caddying for?

Peter Chiarelli. It's an oft overlooked part of the Kessel trade.

And he has to get dressed in the dark so he shows up looking like John Daly.

If you have 4 or 5 teams showing interest in Kovalchuk they have to compensate for his price tag and not make any moves like taking on a contract like Kaberle's. So if those teams who have interest in Kovalchuk are off the market in one way or another, there is a ripple effect that ultimately influences any team looking to trade whether it's for kaberle or not. We saw this with the L.A. Kings when they were focused on Kovalchuk so much that when it fell through they were forced into plan 'C' with the signing Alexei Ponikorovsky. Not to mention Kaberle's compatriot Patrick Elias has expressed his interest in bringing Kabby to New Jersey. So, yes...the market will without a doubt pick up after the Kovalchuk case gets settled.

But the closer you get to August 15th the more desperate BB is going to be to pull the trigger. He is also limited to teams who can give up something in return AND have the cap space for him. That should whittle the list down.

"Brian Burke claims the market will pick up for Tomas Kaberle after the Ilya Kovalchuk case gets settled.'

BB knows it will happen because, while everybody was distracted with the Kovalchuk thing, he used the time to sacrifice a few chickens and a goat to the hockey gods. His confidence is very high.

Something along the lines of "Leafs 1", "I Love The Leafs" or maybe "1967".

Sphincter Burke is making this Kaberle character sound like he is Bobby Orr. To paraphrase Ronald Regan, "I knew Bobby Orr and Kaberle is no Bobby Orr."
