07:24 AM ET 08.02 | Pete Carroll is, not surprisingly, upbeat at camp -- though that doesn't mean he's thrilled with his rookie holdout. Russell Okung remains unsigned and absent from the Seahawks training camp. What's the hold-up? Carroll was asked Sunday. After all, the deals for players drafted around Okung are negotiated. Have the sides hit an impasse or roadblock in negotiations? "I mean it's pretty clear," Carroll said. "All of the work has been done in the staging of the position that we're in. It's pretty clear how this should go. And we're absolutely ready to get it done right away. They got to pick up the phone and respond and make sure that we get a chance to get our work done." At what point does Russell's absence become a concern? "I think it's a concern for him every day," Carroll said.

Pete is going to have the same kind of success he last had in the NFL. Not much. Good luck Seattle.

That first sentence doesn't even make sense. Who writes this stuff?

It looks as if they've hired the facelift bar guy.

Way for him to bail on S. Cal like that. He must have known he would have been asked to resign as head coach. The only good thing is that coach who use to be Tenn. coach gets stuck with the pile of trash.

I heard Okung is holding out for USC money.

Could be, Stu... Pete didn't have that rookie cap to contend with there either.

Wait a minute... ?

Sorry, Otis. I'm still bitter about my Irish being beaten by those guys for the last ten years.

Seattle is in a weak division and wouldn't suprise me if they contend for the west title honestly, but it also wouldn't suprise me if they went 4-12.

No problem Stu - I have a hunch that retribution is close at hand for you, my friend.

Yup, there's a good chance for that. However, it all makes me a little nervous. There is so much pent up anticipation of that moment that when it does happen, the release of energy and excitement could prove to be cataclysmic for the earth. It could have the same energy as having Charlie Weis, Rex Ryan, and Mark Mangino jump up and down at the same time, knocking the earth out of its rotation and revolutionary orbit and killing us all.

Okung is in no hurry to show up. Guess he realizes Seattle doesn't have a real QB for him to protect.

This is the second photo they have used of Pete Carroll throwing the football.
I am thinking player/head coach here. This more than coincidence. I am sure of it.

6-10/7-9 could win that division. What a mess!

"How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?"

August 2, 2010  11:37 AM ET

My guess is he can lose a 1,000 points with Carroll and still be a starter opening day.

Yes the division is the weakest (AFC West thank SD or there coulda been an argument) in the league .Don't think they will be as low as 4-12 I see 6-10 to 8-8 and if Jupiter aligns with Mars 9-7 .You got to remember they play Ariz. St.L and SF 2X if one of SF or USCHawks sweep they should be 9-7. My bet would be on SF but Petey boys might surprise
