07:30 AM ET 08.02 | The NBA's reminder to its franchises of tampering guidelines may make for an intriguing subplot in Chris Paul's career and relationship with LeBron James. "I have a friend in the NBA who stays close with him (Paul)," said veteran sportswriter Sam Smith, who used to cover the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan for the Chicago Tribune. "He said Paul has been telling him that he didn't come up with any list or push to be traded. But part of my sense is that these people have been speaking for Paul, and they are doing a lot of leaking. And Chris has kind of been influenced by these guys, allowing them to kind of walk all over him ... He's really hurting himself. I've talked to a couple of GMs who said he's really suffered a blow personally."

So basically this whole piece is about your hunch, or your senses?
Fans in NO still love him. Every GM would like to have him. So what does this even matter anyway?

I don't care what these owners and GM's say. All they want is a money cow to milk. And all these great players need is a championship team to compete with. There lies the conflict of interest. We all know New Orleans has depleted its talent base since CP3 got there so like any competitor he won't be happy. So he's perfectly justified to want out. Sometimes we forget these players have feelings too. You look around and your peers like Paul Pierce, Kobe, Dwight Howard and Wade with legit title teams and all you have to work with is West... how would you feel stepping on the court each night to play knowing your team will get crashed? Who wants to be on such a team? And it aint like he's been overpaid... man screw New Orleans... move on CP!

Oh I dunno, dis-heartened? Defeated? Mad as hell for signing that last 3 year contract extension? Its his own fault for not seeing the writing on the wall.

Just because you can play a game a bit better than the others in the schoolyard does not mean you DESERVE to be on a team competing for a championship.

They signed a contract to do a job.

Get to work!

Maybe... just maybe... that little playoff run in 2007 was a bit of a mirage.

Exactly no one held a gun to his head and made him sign the contract.

He'll be alright, just stick it out.

If fans don't know what King James can do to manipulate players and managements then they better wake up. Heat fans are playing blinders now. Luvher believes he has become a saint.

I think CP3 is going about this the right way. By voicing his desire to play for a championship team he's giving his ownership and management the opportunity to fix the problem so that he's not compeled to leave on bad terms when his contract expires.

Lebron on the other hand did Cleveland in the worse way and given its his own people its very bad. He's very cold hearted. Lebron nixed Cleveland deals for Ariza and other players cos he won't commit or let them know he's not staying. Even on the last hour when Cleveland had a deal for Chris Bosh his silence killed the deal.

Paul on the other hand is going about it the right way in asking Hornets to deal him now if they can't surround him with a championship team so that it doesn't get to a point where the team will have nothing to show for his departure. So yeah he maybe gaining a bad reputation with the managers and owners cos he sure won't stick around forever to be milked but in the eyes of everybody that knows you can't win a championship with a crappy team he's totally justified.

He's going about this the right way. Way better than Lebron did or ever will. CP3 is smart.

does this mean they're going to start calling fouls on him for mugging people?

i'm reading here: paul's people are doing him harm by leaking things that are not true - making paul look like he is not in control - every boby wants to have a ring and pushing your team to build a champion is a good thing - but paul has made his team look bad by talking to other teams and trying to strong arm and manipulate the owners of his team in the press

The same people who said LeLuvher was going to Miami was on ESPN talking about the teams Paul wanted to go to. Were they operating without facts as well? Are you saying Paul's public temper tantrum was all a fabrication of the media?

no if you remember correctly....lebron was rumored to be going to each of the teams ...everyday it was reports from reliable sources and media guys stating he was GOING to every team with cap space........thats whats so comical because these same guys that had him in Chicago, NY and the Nets have CP3 in all these different places

If Paul has a bad attitude...because he wants to win and has for the most part kept his trade demand whining private.....what can you say about other stars who havent kept this crap in house like Shaq,Kobe,Steven Jackson,Vince Carter etc...?

Who doesnt want to win? Stop it with the "all he wants to do is win and thats why hes speaking out." The entire league is full of whiners who expect every pick in the draft that their team to make to be the next superstar or they wanna be traded to a team already loaded.

It's king James people that's pulling the strings. Eversince cp3 changed his agents to lbj's then cp3's attitude changed.

come on CP3 team is garbage...he demand a trade per the hornets gm...and HE IS A GROWN AS MAN
