07:47 AM ET 08.04 | Brandon Inge may be eligible to come off the DL today, but his road back to Detroit will go through West Michigan. If it were up to Inge, he'd be in the lineup against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday. Instead, the Detroit Tigers announced before the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader that the veteran third baseman is headed to Class A West Michigan for a rehab assignment, starting Tuesday. "I'm really surprised at how fast it has healed," said Inge, who said he took almost 60 swings with no pain Monday. "Actually, without any B.S., it felt surprising to me. I didn't feel any pain. ... I threw over the break; I probably wasn't supposed to, but I did. ... Squeezing the glove was hard to do. I don't have that problem anymore." With the team struggling and in need of a veteran bat in the lineup, Inge could be back with the Tigers by the weekend.

Good for him!

It will be nice to have Inge back, however, his "veteran bat" lacks what it will take to make this lineup produce runs.

ItIt???s amazing how quickly someone can heal when they have a replacement in the lineup. Even if that person can't spell his own name correctly.

Just a couple days ago, tigger fans were praising Jhonny as the next Ty Cobb.

With Jhonny doing so well... Could the rehab assignment be a re-tooling of Inge to return to his old catching duties
