08:14 AM ET 08.04 | Let the "Carmelo Anthony to Knicks?" headlines begin again, as one HoopsWorld report has 'Melo not signing "anytime soon." The deal would have paid him $65 million, so Anthony is walking away from some serious dough if the report is right. If true, Anthony will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. When Amar'e Stoudemire signed on with the New York Knicks this summer, there were rumors that he was trying to get Anthony as well as New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul or Mr. Eva Longoria, San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker, to find a way to move to the Big Apple by next summer at the latest.

This is the one thing that makes sense. Melo is from NY, and as just about any New Yorker who has left for a period of time will tell you, you often miss it and look forward to your return. It's not that other cities aren't nice, but they aren't NY. Once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker. WORD!

Doc I feel like I've heard all this before.

Before? What other marquee player do you know who was from NY who wanted to come home, had the means to do it, and didn't? I'm not saying there hasn't been one, but if so, I don't remember him. Can you site an example?

I'm not talking about him being from NY, I'm talking about the whole "It's not that other cities aren't nice, but they aren't NY" thing.
