08:27 AM ET 08.04 | As two headliners in the offseason, Notre Dame and Texas may hook up for a marquee matchup. Notre Dame and the Big 12 powerhouse Longhorns are "very close" to finalizing a four-game series for future games, sources told the Tribune. The series could begin in 2015, sources said. The rest of the details are unknown, such as if it would be simply a pair of home-and-homes or involve games at off-campus venues. But it would be another recent statement that Notre Dame remains in the business of big names and big venues on its schedule. The Irish also have firmed up plans to rekindle their rivalry with Miami in a 2012 game at Soldier Field.

I like this alot. If more big time teams scheduled games like this, it could make end of the year Bowl pictures much better. Hopefully more perrenial Top 10 teams do this.

Sounds good to me, I wish Texas and Ohio State would renew there deal like they did a few years ago.

Agreed, very good deal. How about USC and Florida????

Awesome! will coach Mack still be there by 2015? Coach Kelly will still be at ND with one or two National Titles under his belt.
Now if AD Swarbrick would only schedule the Buckeyes, then the smack talk could really start to fly around here.

And Farting Irish add another loss to their record annually starting in 2015....

Sounds good to me. I like to see high profile teams playing each other ... unfortunately, there is very little upside and too much downside, given the current BCS scheme.

I'd like it if they mixed it up - home & home plus one or two at a "neutral" venue.

So, have you posted equally stupid comments the other 44 times?

I think we all would like to see the heavyweights do H&H's on a more consistent basis. I'd like to see UF play anyone outside of the southeast. I know they make more money hosting cupcakes, but at least do an occasional H&H with someone of note. I'd like to see Oregon vs. Auburn, Bama vs. tOSU, UF vs. Texas, LSU vs. UCLA, OU vs. Wisconsin, Nebraska vs. FSU, VaTech vs. Penn State, and so on and so forth. Just gives us some match-ups that are out of the ordinary for the regular season. Heck I'd even like to see Ms. State vs. Illinois, because it would be something different. Give me Iowa vs. Utah. I think we all want to see better match-ups.

Yes he will. He's confirmed he plans to stay through his contract 2016 although things can change. Now for the rest of that stuff. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. A couple of titles under his belt.

Whats so funny?! Coach Kelly is already starting to steal away all your elite Texas talented recruits.

Hell that absolutely works for us. Not sure how open to the idea your people are though.

Hey just doing the mess around, we can all use a belly laugh from time to time, but it is possible for coach Kelly to have 2 BCS bowl wins and 1 NC by 2015.
Or should i stop drinking too much beer and step away from the NCAA play station console?

Not very open to it at all, unfortunately. This "broken" systems really limits the benefits to playing against top tier opponents out of conference. We don't need the strength-of-schedule boost, so what is the benefit? Sad reality, but that is where we are.

The Buckeyes are booked thru 2012, but I'm with you. Those were two great H&Hs that UT and tOSU played. I also would like to see the Bucks play a H&H in the near future with the SEC. Penn State has the right idea, regardless of win or loss.

Looking forward to the tOSU/Oklahoma home and home coming up in a couple of years. The one in the 70s was epic.

Oh yeah and if things go well the plan is to make this an annual rivalry game not unlike ND's current schedule of rivals they've played for years or decades.Tx fans are fired up about this and most want revenge from the last game played back in the 90's.

dont beat them up too bad, they'll take you off the schedule and wont play you for 30+ years
