07:54 AM ET 08.05 | Recently released by his former college coach, LenDale White, a high school star in Denver, has found another place to call home. The Broncos' decision to sign a veteran running back is an indication they are either concerned about the hamstring injury that starting tailback Knowshon Moreno suffered during the team's first training-camp practice Sunday, or they simply needed a power back. ... Because White can't play in the first four games, the team must be confident that Moreno will return by preseason's end, and that Correll Buckhalter, who was also injured Sunday with an pulled muscle in his upperback/lower neck, will return no later than Monday.

Why can't White play the first 4 games? Was he with Big Ben?

Signing LenDale White isn't so much a panic move. It's really more of a dumb move.

White signing a panic move in Denver?

I think there have been a lot of these moves to choose from.

" smoking marijuana "....Apparently he likes to show up on his own Rocky Mountain High.

Does this really seem like THAT dumb of a move? I mean...the Bronco's always split the carries between like 8 backs, right? I heard Terrell Davis is looking strong in camp, thus far...

Not to worry..one thing you can count on like athletes saying stupid things is the Favre Saga throughout training camp. Another thread or 2 or 10 will show up.

He peed hot for marijuana.

I like this move it very well may be his last chance so we will see if he works his butt off and makes it happen....

August 5, 2010  09:30 AM ET

surprised Denver isn't trying to sign Mauric Clarett again. HA HA HA.

I bet White liked it more. 31 other teams want no part of him. Not even his old buddy Pete Carroll.

Ed Zachary... he screws the pooch on this one and he'll be learning the linebacker position to play in the Arena League...

Well he is a local boy, Billups cousin matter of fact, and why not give him a shot if he doesn't pan out Denver will release him.....

August 5, 2010  10:30 AM ET

I have every reason to believe this move is dumb...yet...something tells me it could work. Why is that?

August 5, 2010  10:58 AM ET

(Sigh). I would have went after Westbrook, first, But Ok. Man...... this is the season that will tell you if Josh really knows what he doing or not. I can appreciate he's making DENVER 'his', but your making nervous ~ Bruh!!!! Our division just stepped up as well, so there is NO ROOM for experiments here....Win or Go home.

Westbrook is done man! He is just a bigger name...there really is no risk factor here, you guys are not asking him to shoulder the load or even be #2...he should be fine with 10 carries a game being a short yardage back, probably getting a few cheap touchdowns too

Hometown kid trying to make good, might even be a "feel good" story for this season...you will need it after letting B.Marsh walk

Denver always has 25 fancy-footed guys. White could be a serviceable 3rd and 1/goal-to-go basher. Remember the Eagles problem? Westbrook would run the ball 98 yards down in 8 carries, and then they would get no gain four downs inside the one. A 260 pound back with a head of steam busts those in.

Just cannon fodder for the exhibition season, then gone in a puff of smoke.

That is true. They are just looking for bodies at that position right now, and sometimes lightening strikes.

Have to agree. I guess. We are talking about a guy who gained 220 yards last year. He is a short yardage option, nothing more.
