07:56 AM ET 08.05 | Chris Coghlan may have played his last game in 2010, possibly further dimming the Marlins' hopes. [Coghlan] got a third opinion on the torn meniscus in his left knee Tuesday night, and although the Marlins are hopeful the 2009 National League Rookie of the Year will be able to return before the end of this season, he said Wednesday he isn't sure if he will. ... "I'm trying [to come back]. All I can say is I would have had surgery right away if there wasn't the possibility of me being able to come back. I still have a tear. I still have to have surgery. It's just a matter of when." The Marlins are hoping that's in November. ... Once he does return, Coghlan will begin working immediately at third base. It's a position Coghlan said he hasn't played full-time at since he played 28 games for Single A Jamestown in 2006.

You can do it! I've torn my meniscus before and the recovery time isnt that bad. Granted I wasn't attempting to recover to continue playing a professional sport. Recovering for rec-league bball and softball is a different story, I suppose.
