Dumervil could miss six months

07:36 AM ET 08.06 | While Josh McDaniels wouldn't confirm a source's claim that Elvis Dumervil has a torn pectoral muscle, the Broncos may be bracing for the diagnosis. [Friday], Dumervil is scheduled to get a second opinion from Dr. Michael Dillingham, an orthopedist who is part of the medical staffs for both the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. Dumervil, if a surgical diagnosis is confirmed, is expected to have an operation to reattach his pectoral tendon as soon as this weekend. That surgery most likely would be performed by Dr. Ted Schlegel, the Broncos' head team physical. ... Recovery from surgery lasts four to six months. Because the muscle is so large and used so often, even small movements can cause pain or damage during recovery. The surgery scenario would put Dumervil out for the season.

And things just keep getting better and better in Bronco-land. First, these injuries. Now, I'll be anxious to see what the Vegas odds are for when LenDale White uses up his "one-strike-and-you're-out". I think the over/under is August 30th.

It indeed looks bleak for the Broncos. Looks like the AFC West is going to be a one-team division this year, and only if San Diego lives up to expectations. The Raiders could actually finish second this year.

The Curse of Tim Tebow? Look, I don't want to start a rumor or anything, but it sure is weird. First their best RBs go down, and now Elvis. Just sayin'

If San Diego's expectations are to have a terrific regular season then choke in the first playoff game, then yes, they will live up to them. As always.

They are a mediocre team. They have the talent to be better, but somehow they're not. Their record over the past few years is based on being in a division that hasn't offered much competition since Elway retired.

Aside from all the sacks, that hurts that defense enormously. Corners will have to cover for that much longer now...

Gonna be a rough year for the bronchoes

Mc Daniels is gonna have a helluva year. That's what happens when you throw away your best players. HAHAHAHA Karma .

It might be a good thing for Tebow and the Broncs. They might take a look around and say, "Hey, we're not going to be a playoff team this year." Then, they can concentrate on building a better team for next season, instead of chasing an impossible dream in 2010.

Josh McDaniels might just go on chasing that impossible dream though. He thinks he's the Man of La Mancha. Actually, he's the man out-to-luncha.
