08:34 AM ET 08.06 | Is all well in the Tuscaloosa defensive backfield? Veteran safety Mark Barron discussed addition and attrition in the Tide's secondary, which is a question mark going into the season. As expected, cornerback DeQuan Menzie practiced Thursday despite the fact that he tore an Achilles tendon in April. What was unexpected was the fact that the junior college transfer practiced in the morning, with the veterans. Is Barron impressed? "As far as what he's done to this point, yeah," Barron said, "but he hasn't really done much." And what about Rod Woodson's departure? The sophomore free safety is transferring. "Rod's a good athlete, but at the same time, we have more athletes that can step up and play at any time," Barron said.

December it is and remember, no crying.

They are pretty young in the defensive backfield. Both corners have sophomores penciled in as starters backed up by freshmen. The safetys have a junior and a sophomore as starters backed up by a couple of sophomores.

Probably going to be a clasic, like they usually are.

Well, this is truth and RUMORS, I suppose.

I don't know how. I still have not heard it from one person except you. I usually hear every rumor pretty quickly because I'm on a board for Bama fans and we have plenty of auburn people disguised as Alabama fans that bring up every single rumor.

August 6, 2010  09:41 AM ET

The bottom line on this story is you can believe it or not. The person saying we'll be fine is an Alabama player and he is by definition going to say they are ready.

They'll be young. But, they are talented.

It's all they can do. If you put more then 17 points on them they'd have to rely on the QB to pass the ball and that won't be happening. Tons of young talent on your team though. Get your WR's up to speed and the game experience during the season. Game is yours. I want to play UF for the NC. or Boise... ; - )

McElroy is good under pressure. Jones and Maze are good targets. This will probably be the best Bama offenses in the Saban era.

McElroy will be ALL-SEC QB this year and alabama's offense will be prolific this year. nice to know though we can just run ingram and richardson down other teams throats though.

I want to see Phillip Sims vs. Matt Simms when Alabama plays TN.

That may be a bit of a stretch. Even is he was the best QB in the league, he's only being asked to manage the game.
