08:37 AM ET 08.06 | If an altercation is any measure, the Trojans are ready to fight in 2010. USC players won't put on full pads until the weekend, but at least two Trojans did not wait to mix it up. Junior cornerback T.J. Bryant had cheekbone surgery Thursday as the result of an altercation last week with senior fullback Stanley Havili, Coach Lane Kiffin said. Bryant, competing for a starting position, is expected to be sidelined three to four weeks, Kiffin said. "I feel horrible about it," Havili said. "I talked to T.J. about it [Thursday]. We're on good terms." Bryant could not be reached for comment. The altercation occurred during a conditioning drill Friday. Havili said Trojans players were competing in a relay, with strength coaches present. "We were all fired up," Havili said. "It was the last workout ... emotions were high. When emotions are high, you know, intelligence is down. I let it get the best of me and I feel bad about it."

Cornerbacks shouldn't pick fights with fullbacks.

Kiffin looks like he's about to cry in that pic.

He's giving us his Gordon Ramsay (Hell's Kitchen) look.

I'm pretty sure that is not the reason.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to mess with Havili, he is one tough dude.

I agree-- Havili is tough, and could probably beat up most other Division 1A fullbacks.

It really does suck to lose players for 3-4 weeks because of a fight. That's disappointing for anyone.

That should be a reality show.

"Don't nothing ever change"! He put his team mate in the hospital, well at least it wasn't over who won the video game.
Who wants to bet coach Kiffin does nothing about it.

Ask Sandy.

Ask Sandy.

Since Sandy U has not made his presence known yet today I know I can speak for him in condemning SC for the "racist" firing of Mike Garrett. Sandy was quick to point out a few years ago the ND was racist for firing Willingham (especially since he went on to such distinction as a coach at Washington) but this is much worse. Mike Garrett presided as AD over the most successful period in USC football history and to be forced out for a "white" AD with no AD experience can only be perceived as racially motivated right Sandy? On top of that giving back Bush's Heisman only compounds their racist behavior. What's next? Asking their convicted felon Heisman winner to return his? Shame, shame, shame USC. I expect Jesse Jackson is already planning on "picketing" on the campus soon. I'm with you on this one Sandy...!

T.J. should have probably went to Alabama, no offense to USC. He'd probably be a starter this year.

August 6, 2010  11:42 AM ET

Hey, Gariboy. Good to see you.

You're really gunning for DK today...
