Some Gators happy without 'primadonnas' of 2009

09:41 AM ET 08.06 | In a departure, Florida will not be motivated by its recent failures. The usual offseason tactic for strength coach Mickey Marotti is to utilize the worst moments of the previous season to motivate for the coming year. Replays of the game in the locker room would have sufficed. Not this year, safety Ahmad Black says. ... Running back Chris Rainey told reporters Thursday that last year's team had "primadonnas," players who were worried about the NFL. The Gators had nine NFL draft picks in April, including three first-rounders. [Mike] Pouncey said the Gators lost the Alabama game because of "accountability issues," which might explain why numerous players referred to this team's focus on being "accountable" throughout the offseason. "We bonded more as a team this year," Pouncey said. "We lost some great players, but we still had great players here."

Got to love FN. The link to the article does not work.

Failures....

UF won 23 of its last 24 games. They should be ashamed!

Florida has had no true failures since Meyer's first season, if that, in my opinion. Failure is losing to a team that you are supposed to beat by 21 or so.

That figures, since there's actually no story there.

Jeez, I wish writers of sports stories would have some ability to actually focus on the "sport" part.

Whoa, GIE -- I thought we were set to crash and burn this year, with absolutely no chance of winning the SEC, or even the East.

Remember? <wink wink, nudge nudge> We're really gonna suck this year.

We all watched that game, they lost to Alabama because Tebow could not handle the Bama D.

They probably should have beaten Michigan in '07, but that's not too bad-- I wish my favorite team could say it only had one notable failure in the past 5 seasons.

Whom are you trying to lull into a false sense of security? The legions of South Carolina fans that frequent these boards?

Um Mike, you lost that game because Bama was better.

August 6, 2010  10:31 AM ET

Ahhhh, I didn't copy the quote properly! Anyway, stop making excuses, Mike Pouncey, the Gators lost to Alabama because the Tide was better. Those teams could have played 10 times last year and Bama would have won 9 of them. See you in Tuscaloosa on October 2nd!

Livin where I live and working where I work.. Rainey was one of the primadonnas

But funny as heck. Meyer has already stated that Rainey can do no more interviews for the rest of the season. Way to go Chris!

And Bama will probably win 9 out of the next 10 against Florida. We really don't belong on the same field.

Agreed, that was the same year Michigan lost to App State.

Hey, whatever works for them. It's the SEC until further notice in CFB boys, get used to it.

QUOTE(#2):

Adopting a practice from the Shi'a, the Gators walked and crawled from the athletic dorm to the practice field, flaying themselves with homemade barbed whips. Thus, they atoned for their teams' one loss in the two prior seasons.

I disagree-- I don't think bama would have won more than 6 out of 10 against last year's uf squad.
