11:12 AM ET 08.06 | There is a good possibility that Chicagoland could be the latest venue added to next season's Sprint Cup schedule, but officials have refused to confirm or deny the rumors. "Currently, we're still working with NASCAR on finalizing the details of our 2011 schedule," Chicagoland spokesman Jeff Stur said. "We plan on making an announcement once everything has been completed." Talk has swirled around Chicagoland being eyed as the season opener for the series in 2011.

I know I am.
What are you supposed to say about a rumour?
We already have one date there.
Why do we need another?
Bring us a new/old short track instead

From the whole Story ;)
Chicago likely would get its Chase date from Auto Club /Calif Speedway, which currently has February and October dates on the Cup schedule.
With dates being shuffled, Auto Club likely will lose one of its Cup races to Kansas, which already has a Chase date. The options for a regular season date at Kansas appear to be in April or June.
Auto Club Speedway, which sold out all of its races when it had one Cup race a season, might have its one Cup date pushed into March with the second race of the season possibly moving to Phoenix.
What happens to Chicago July date, which was the weekend after Daytona? The most likely spot for that will be Kentucky, which is getting one of Atlanta's Cup races.
If Chicago opens the Chase, then the next two races likely would be at Dover and New Hampshire with the remainder of the Chase schedule remaining pretty much the same.
;) We find out the Schedule on Tuesday from NASCAR...till then Rumors.

Also this move could back fire ;( If NASCAR chose to open the Chase at Chicago, it would kick off its version of the playoffs in the third biggest media market and also in a market where it has struggled to sell tickets the last two years.
and Add to that ;-( also vs Da'Bears on Sunday
so is the Chicago race still going to be run on Saturday Night

It already out of the bag that Atlanta is losing a race, another Bruton track, so I am guessing Kentucky gets that race. And then maybe next year the second New Hampshire date gets move to Las Vegas for its second race. ....but Whatever

That's just crazy. I grew up a few miles from where they built the track, and it's nice to be able to visit home and see a race, but there's no way Chicago should be hosting the opening race. It's a pretty boring race at a very aero dependent track where the lead car just takes off from the pack. And even with just one race per year there, they have a hard time selling tickets. I'll be semi-happy that they continue to be on the schedule, but it shouldn't open the season and it shouldn't be in the Chase.

I hate this track when it comes to NASCAR racing. As far as I'm concerned it can leave the schedule for good.
The facility makes one heck of an IndyCar track however.

Well if it's that strong of a possibility to open the Chase in Chicago, hopefully they wont go back to selling tickets as a 2-race package. Up until this year, you had to buy a seat for both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup race. When I went 2 years ago, the cheapest ticket for 1 seat was $180.
I think they realized they were losing a ton of money by making it a package deal and sold them by single races this year. f they make it a Chase race, the owners might try to get greedy and make it a package deal again.

I don't know about the best seats in Chicago, I was talking about having to pay $180 for 1 ticket for the cheapest seats in the place. Luckily, my parent's neighbor was a vendor there and let me use an employee pass for the race. I just waited til about 10 minutes after the race began and then found an empty seat about 15 rows up on the exit of pit row. There were a ton to choose from.
