09:32 AM ET 08.07 | The University of Miami is being investigated by the NCAA for recruiting-related text messages by coaches in various sports -- including football, women's track and possibly baseball, three sources told The Miami Herald. UM initiated the process by self-reporting the infractions to the NCAA. Two UM athletic department sources said they believe the infractions are not considered severe.

Its all Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, a former captain of the Harvard basketball team he has stated that he will push hard on the NCAA to do better.
In one of his speeches he said why should some colleges graduate 100 percent of their players and others have a graduation rate of zero.
The nerdy Harvard jock is seeking revenge.

The colleges should recruit players just to play football and basketball. Very few of them go to class or graduate anyway, Most are only interested in putting in the minimum number of years and going to the NFL and NBA. This occurs in the SEC all the time. If they did this every college in Div I would be on an equal footing. Notre Dame would never recruit most of the players that go to SEC schools and this puts them at a disadvantage.

Yes you could say that but remember that coach Lou got it done while maintaining ND's high academic standards, and i for one believe coach Kelly can and WILL do the same.

Anyone else have the feeling that the NCAA thinks it has some brass ones after the USC smackdown, and is just trying to swing 'em around all of a sudden. I don't recall the NCAA going quite so ballistic in an off-season before.

I'm not sure that bluesuiter has ever been to college. If he did, it shows that he went somewhere with abhorrent admission standards.

I'll stick up for Miami and be the first to say that Shannon has run a very clean program the last few years. Can he coach? I'll let Miami fans answer that one.
