11:12 AM ET 08.08 | Despite Chael Sonnen's utter domination over UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva only to be caught with minutes left in the fight, UFC President Dana White remains unsure over the company's next move.

if Sonnen wants Silva again let him have it. Silva got beat the f--- up. Its almost like winning on a technicality. I mean gj Silva for paying attention enough to find the triangle choke, but you got beat the f--- up.

got to be one..........

I think he should have to fight a bunch of others before he get's a rematch. I mean sure he was winning the fight. But it wasn't a screwed up decision, he tapped he lost. I'd rather see a health Anderson fight Victor.

I'm really impressed Sonnen backed up his trash-talk, BUT that being said, he was fighting for the championship and should never have tapped out. He should of went unconscious before tapping if it meant that much to him. His corner also should have reminded him to lay chest to chest on Silva like he was doing the previous 4 rounds and not sit up because he then may get caught. And look what happened? He got caught.

True, but a little harsh on a guy who fought an almost perfect fight. The reason why Silva is considered the best in the world is because he is that dangerous. And as much as I was rooting for Sonnen, everyone has to give Silva props for showing tremendous heart for hanging in there after four straight rounds of getting battered and beaten and being able to win a gutsy match like that.

I think White feels that if Silva and GSP are ever going to fight (with Silva looking more beatable every time out), his mega-money superfight will have to take place sooner than later, rather than Silva losing to a less-known fighter in a lower-exposure fight. I would gamble that White waits until GSP beats Koscheck than signs these two superstars to fight in the biggest mega-fight in UFC history.

Silva is nearing his final days, and GSP has stated he would love to wrestle in the Olympics, so White has to act sooner rather than later.

I agree! If the fight would have went to the cards then I would say give him a rematch but it didn't. He tapped out and he lost the fight, Silva earned the victory and he has earned the right to fight the next best contender. It doesn't matter that Sonnen was winning for almost all of the fight, it only matters who wins the entire fight and that was Silva.
He took a beating and still managed to get a win, I say he EARNED this victory like a Champion!

I say he gets the re-match in time...but he has to earn the right back in there...close or not, he tapped, he lost...regroup and remember its FIVE full rounds you have to win, one slip up, be it in the first or fifth round will cause you to lose.

August 9, 2010  12:13 PM ET

Took a licking and kept on ticking. I've never seen him abused like that before. But as Al Davis says, "Just win baby."

A re-match has to happen given the way it unfolded but both fighters get full marks for Saturday's effort. Silva for surviving and Sonnen for everything else.

Who else are they going to put Silva up against. Dana got pissed because Silva was playing with the jokers they were putting in front of him, he gets a challenge we all want to see again and he isn't sure......I'm lost

Sorry guy. He had no choice but to tap... He was in triangle and arm bar. He would have had a broken arm if he did not tap. I don't think Sonnen would have cared about going to sleep, but breaking your arm, that would be stupid.

Agreed... I think alot of the good ones will get choked out, but broken limbs do nothing, but potentially ruin your career. I'd say who ever is next in line gets silva, and sonnen should have to fight the third in line, winner getting the victor of the silva fight.

Winning the fight? Sonnen was manhandling Silva. He did everything perfect except for that one mistake. He definitely deserves a rematch, but as I stated above, I believe White is afraid of Silva losing before he gets GSP to sign on the dotted line and make the biggest pay-per-view in UFC history.

August 10, 2010  12:18 AM ET

Sonnen had his shot, almost made the best of it. He manhandled Silva but you don't call Silva "The Spider" for nothing. I give great credit to Sonnen but even more to Silva for lasting and finding a way.

So, next opponent and not Sonnen.

August 10, 2010  04:26 PM ET

Silva maintained his composure and took advantage of Sonnen's mental lapse to keep his belt. He's a lucky man to walk away with win after being handled like that. Sonnen should get another shot.

August 10, 2010  04:42 PM ET

It is all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ if Dana thinks the big pay day is Sonnen, then Sonnen it shall be. I vote give him a rematch.
