Michigan coach calls out wideout

Michigan coach Lloyd Carr didn't give a resounding endorsement of Mario Manningham when asked about the play of the junior wide receiver. "I don't think he's played as well as he can," Carr said. Hints about Carr's dissatisfaction with Manningham may have come in the praise he had for Adrian Arrington.

I don't think Car has coached as well as he can.

September 14, 2007  10:20 AM ET

I don't think the fans have cheered as well as they can.

September 14, 2007  10:21 AM ET

I don't think the cheerleaders have been shaking their pom poms hard enough.

September 14, 2007  10:22 AM ET

I don't think the water boy is mixing the water right....too much Gator, not enough aide.

September 14, 2007  10:22 AM ET

...see how this works?

September 14, 2007  10:23 AM ET

PRICELESS!!!! Carr is criticizing and calling out someone else...OH MAN, this is too much.

September 14, 2007  10:28 AM ET

Typical...

September 14, 2007  10:28 AM ET

Hey THE WARDEN...I'm going to leave this one up to you. The only comment I'm going to make has been made. I'm going to continue to laugh about this comment by our great coach for probably the rest of the weekend....

September 14, 2007  10:35 AM ET

NO...I have one more comment...I was wrong to have said that...He is calling out Manningham YET he says nothing of the defense that is

109th in the NCAA, 10th in the Big Ten
Has given up 71 points in 2 games, 32 of which to App State
gives up an average of 36.5 pts per game (102nd in NCAA) and 11th in the Big Ten...

Yep...Manningham is the problem..

Now I'm done.

Agree with both of you Tribe and Do_Work_Son

to: THE TRUTH & THE WARDEN (yeh we know your the same person)

shut the pha ck up defending that idiot ruining Michigan

September 14, 2007  11:11 AM ET

The blame should be going to the coaching staff for not preparing the players. First two games spread offense, with a qb who can run. This has ALWAYS meant trouble for michigan and you would think they would be prepared but they came out flat footed, under prepared , and eventually shell shocked. The players do deserve criticizm. One question is it just me or does it feel like Carr has already moved on to retirement

September 14, 2007  11:14 AM ET

oy, would it make you guys feel better if Carr came out and just ripped everyone including himself and got on his knees asking for your forgiveness?

Some of you don't quite get what Carr is doing..and I am going to back him up on this...

Let's look at what he did...he called out Manningham and praised Arrington, who was very close to never seeing the football field again due to his off season problems. Arrington paid his dues and realized what mattered most. Carr juxtaposed Arrington's rebirth with Manningham's laziness. If that won't get Manningham's attention to start doing what he needs to do to play, then nothing will.

But hey, it doesn't matter to you whiners. Nothing Carr does or says will be good enough.

Btw, I would pay good money to see you know it alls say what you say on here to face of Mike Hart, Jake Long, or any other UM player. I bet you they'd teach you a thing or two about gang tackling.

And on that note, I hope UM kicks **** this Saturday. I'll focus on that and let you whiners continue to erode morale.

September 14, 2007  11:21 AM ET

Okay..Warden, I have to respond to you..man, why do you make me do this!! LOL

I am yet to say anything negative about Hart or any specific player. I am making my comments about the person responsible...CARR and his, as well as the rest of the coaching staff, inability to coach this team to wins that matter. Hart is amazing, he never stops moving his legs until he is down. So bring Hart and Long and throw in Henne if you want. I'll tell them to their face that their coach sucks and needs to be replaced.

September 14, 2007  11:22 AM ET

Like they haven't been hearing it on campus as it is? Like only me and a dozen other people are the only people that feel Carr sucks?

September 14, 2007  11:22 AM ET

For the Record the Warden and I are NOT the same...

the TRUTH is a disgruntled former kindergartern teacher while the Warden is in FACT a warden of a minimum security women's prison in Yspilanti....

September 14, 2007  11:24 AM ET

Do work son......

Mike Hart is one of the best blocking backs if not the best blocking back in college ball.

September 14, 2007  11:26 AM ET

Tribe13,

Do you really think things will be better if Lloyd is fired RIGHT now and an interim coach is installed? Do you really think that would be best for the team at this time?

September 14, 2007  11:27 AM ET

The Truth,

I quit the job at the minimum security prison for women. I am no refereeing female midget wrestling.

September 14, 2007  11:27 AM ET

Tribe 13, Love it man!!! You said it like gospel, but your preaching to the chior here. PS the warden I WOULD LINE UP against M Hart, Long and the likes and tell them what I thought about there team!

September 14, 2007  11:29 AM ET

Don't know...I know this...couldn't be any worse. At least then there is a small chance of us beating OSU...honestly...be an odds maker right now. U of M vs OSU...Carr is coach...odds of winning.
U of M vs OSU...Un-Named coach...odds of winning.

Which odds would be higher...anyone can chime in on their odds if they want and we'll see what is posted.
