08:08 AM ET 08.10 | When he leaves basketball, Steve Nash isn't hoping for an immediate on-air gig. Nash is becoming a partner in a $20 million venture capital firm. The company, Consigliere, will invest in e-commerce and sports, and the company will include Michael Duda of Deutsch, where Nash once interned. Nash, who owns his own film-production company, a vitamin company and a string of gyms, will be directing a documentary on Canadian distance runner Terry Fox. "I realize I'm not going to play basketball forever," Nash told Ad Age. "But I want to learn, grow, do something creative. ... I don't want to be stuck after basketball going, 'What's going to give me life now?'"

Shaq might steal this idea too.

This guy is so scrappy I'm surprised he wouldn't go the route of coaching after he rides into the sunset....

I'd recommend a haircut first, then whatever happens next is gravy

Maybe not the best idea. Ginobil did it and his bald spot seems to be getting bigger every week. Do you want to see a bald Nash?

I can't see Nash coaching. He doesn't look like the coaching type. A color commentator maybe.

Not head coach material but can defintely see him as an assistant coach - No denying his skill set or mentality...

Playing and coaching are so different. Magic tried because he was a great PG but it didn't work out. It will be the same thing for Nash if he coaches. And he does not have a defensive mentality either...

Not head coach off the bat but can see him as an assistant - He can definitely school young PG's but obvioulsy not on defense - LOL

Seems like Nash will pursue other things outside basketball. He wants to be challenged and if he does have an artistic creative side, then being an assistant coach or in the booth will not do it for him. I think he would thrive in the business world in a company that is cutting edge.

i do wish more sport people would prepare for life after sports - you can't play forever your body will not let you

Bird did both pretty well!!! It can be done. Bet he was more the exeption to the rule though.....
