Cuban on Rangers' ballpark: 'It can be brutal'

08:14 AM ET 08.10 | Mark Cuban, admittedly a bigger hoops fan than baseball fan, did see the Rangers as a business challenge. "What I saw when looking at the deal originally, when I talked to [Tom] Hicks about it, was that this is a mess. ... The Rangers are always at a disadvantage just because of the heat factor out there [at Rangers Ballpark]. You're never going to be able to charge quite the same as Boston is just because of the comfort factor in going out there. A big part of what we wanted to be able to do was try to find leverage points with the city of Arlington to try to come up with some solution for sitting out in the bleachers. It can be brutal out there."

watching what other teams have been doing to the rangers is pretty brutal too....MLB is missing out on having Cuban as an owner

Great posting, Mark Cuban, admittedly a bigger hoops fan than basketball, last time i checked hoops and basketball were the same thing.

the heat its on!

Mark...a long time ago the owners installed lights...it's called night games. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you 've never sat in those bleachers in Arlington.

Bingo. Apparently the Dallas Morning News laid off their proof-readers.

Way to go Mark. Now, if we could only get a franchise in Antarctica with penguins for cheerleaders maybe you could get that franchise?

Well you're close. The other local club Tom Hicks is trying to sell is available...the Dallas Stars. Then Cuban would own both teams playing at American Airlines Center.

with that heat you sell more cold beer, sno cones, ice cream and other crap that keeps you cold.

Cuban needs to just buy personal AC units for the bleacher seats. Screw building a contender!

ha Night games. That's what people that don't live in Dallas don't understand. Night games in July and August in Dallas are brutal too. Unless you want to start a game a 1 am. 7 or 8 pm? Still brutally hot. It might only be 97 at 7 pm, instead of 105. The fans survive. It's the players that get ground down in that stuff after 162 games.

His comments are BS. I have never not gone to a game, any game, because of weather concerns...Dress appropriately.
