09:18 AM ET 08.10 | It won't take long to spot one of Michigan State's most anticipated new arrivals. William Gholston, the freshman linebacker from Detroit Southeastern, stands at 6-foot-7. The blue-chip recruit is an imposing figure, rising above his fellow linebackers. But it's the ease with which he's already transitioning that stands out. "He ran the test today like a senior," coach Mark Dantonio said of Gholston's Monday-morning conditioning run. "He looked great out there moving up and down the field. But he's young and he's got to make his way. What's been impressive about the freshman group is how they came in and ran conditioning. They've got a certain maturity in how they approach things."

it will be interesting to see how long or if he stays a LB with that much height. Man that's a big dude.

6'7" (5'19") LB's would create some havoc in passing lanes and sure would make it hard to float 13 yard passes over them.

I wish we could have pulled this guy. He would be perfect in the 3-4 as the LB you move around and blitz with a lot.

Michigan State versus Wisconsin. Slim pickings. Where's the Notre Dame or Kiffin thread for today?

if any QB throws anywhere near this guy they should be benched...that is assuming that this
guy can catch an interception.

Well, I'd like to see intercept and/or bat away into the hands of a fellow Spartan at least one pass from each and every UM QB who plays in the Spartans-Wolverines game this year.

With a solid A+ rated LB corp, the Spratan D should be greatly improved! Go State!

6'7" will just make it easier to block him in the kneecaps.

Or hit him in the nuts, depending on what your poison is.
