Swarbrick most responsible for Irish resurgence?

09:22 AM ET 08.10 | Two years into the post, Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick could wind up "the architect" of the Irish's football revival. All the arrows are pointed upward for Brian Kelly, who has impressively navigated the first eight months on the job by avoiding the word "nasty" and "schematic advantages" in any of his preseason public appearances and by deftly handling the media and the rubber chick banquet circuit. His predecessor (we won't refer to him by name) was already irritating folks in and around the program by this time. On the field, Kelly has 24 years of proven success to fall back on. He has built programs over and over again, much like the last really good Notre Dame coach, Lou Holtz, did before he arrived in South Bend.

Hardly, my friend. Alabama won 3 NCS last year in football alone. What other team could accomplish that feat? None.

Lou Holtz and Beano Cook just predicted Notre Dame to play in the BCSCG. Lou predicted South Carolina as their opponent, while Beano predicted Purdue.

Amen to that! We ND fans are "hopeful" that Kelly will make the Irish competitive again but as someone pointed out we have been down this road before.

I'll say this about Kelly. He might fall flat on his face, but I am doubting he will. I heard an interview of him and I came away very impressed. He's a very gracious guy and speaks better than anyone I have seen since pretty much anyone.

I don't believe the thing about Purdue. But, gee the rest of it seems pretty good, huh?

You do know that if you play and beat ND you get credit for 2.

Just BEING Alabama gets you credit for 2.

Van, you embody Domer. At this moment, it shines from you brighter than the sun on a cloudless August afternoon. Honestly, if someone offered to take my picture with the Leprechaun, I'd toss him aside and ask for a picture with you instead. [Of course, both of you would get the boot for cheerleaders, you understand.] I'd send an autographed copy to Coach Kelly and Swarbrick, with a testament as to how I encountered the true spirit of Notre Dame.

Don't let up one bit, Van. Fill the threads with unfettered Domer enthusiasm! The season starts soon enough...

Here, Here to that.

Right on brother Tin, i got me golden domers helmet and baseball bat at the ready, i need to go buy a new TV though, me old one didn't survive last season.

Soon the Irish faithful ( vast in numbers we are) will be filling these here boards with song -n- dance and Irish cheer for today is the day we're gonna win, now are ya with me men!
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT ! ! !

O.K. Domers I guess you have to talk your trash now because after the season starts you'll be hangin' your head. This thread is over the top. Assigning credit for a resurgence that hasn't happened yet? I read where Domer kool-aide drinker Piratey claims Kelly is a "great" coach, yet he hasn't won a game. The O-line are now beasts because they can bench press 400 lbs+ with no regards to speed and technique. The truth is that maybe the "O" will be as good as last year's though you lost your two best assets (Clausen & Tate). Maybe your "D" will be better then last year, though Kelly has never had a stellar defense, though he blitzes a lot and gets some sacks. We'll see soon enough.
