08:05 AM ET 08.11 | After nine Gold Glove seasons in center, Torii Hunter is playing good soldier and making way for "speedy 23-year-old center fielder Peter Bourjos." Change was needed, so the Angels moved Bourjos to left field at Triple A in late July, in anticipation of a promotion. But days before Bourjos joined the team in Baltimore last week, Hunter agreed to move to right. "They didn't say you have to go to right field; they told me it was up to me," Hunter said. ... "It was tough. I'm human, and I didn't want to give up something I love. I don't think I've lost a step. I feel I can play center field with anybody. But it's not about individual stuff. It's about winning. I have a Gold Glove, a Silver Slugger. I don't have a ring, and that's what I want."

You do what's good for the team and shut up. Michael Young went from 2nd to short to 3rd to get younger guys in the lineup.

Angels clearly need to retool... This is a start.

It is what it is. Now they've basically got 2 CF's on that team. At the end of the day, it's going to be a good thing.

all i know is this guy better be something special. torii is still among the top defensive cf's in the game....not sure how much better this new kid can be.

At some point you need to find out what you have and since the Angels are pretty much out of it might as well see what the CF future holds.

Not a big deal. Kid is younger and faster...

He's also a class act.

but does he have a bigger stick?

Agreed. Superstars who agree to what they see as a demotion because it will help the team win are few and far between.

How about the angels fire the hitting coach, Reagins gets a crow bar to open up Arte's wallet & lets see how that goes. All this hype we heard about Arte opening his wallet has really happened. Texas is in b/k and making moves.

Are you saying the Angels haven't spent?

Not enough for their market. though the Angels do charge their fans less and i like that about the franchise.
You may point to a couple of contracts...but really they could do more and could have done more for some time. They never needed to and I respect that, but time they are a changin...

yes. They have a couple of good contracts, but over all no, they have not spent enough. They need to pick up big names. They have owned this division for a few years now-and now that Texas has finally bloomed 2nd in this division will not be enough to get them even a wild card going forward. If Arte wants to win he better spend.

One of eight teams with a $100+ million payroll, ranking 8th. I think for the most part they have spent wisely. I think they were smart not to sign Lackey to the contract the Angels gave him (they offered $72 mill) because Lackey's not a really an ace yet he got close to Ace type money with that 5 year $82 million contract.

Think its less about keeping Torii healthy anywhere in the outfield, and more about Abreau and Rivera suckin in the corners...and seeing what the kid's got
