Red Sox slugger won't rule out NY
While free agent-to-be Curt Schilling has expressed hesitancy playing for the Yankees next year, the same can't be said for Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell. The 33-year-old, however, wants to make it clear that the idea of playing in New York has less to do with a potential opening or how much money might be offered and more to do with his history with the organization.

This man survived cancer. A little more respect donut boy. I hope cancer never claims any of your friends or family members. That was a disgraceful comment you made regarding one of the best people in baseball.

even if they don't re-sign A-Rod, signing Lowell wouldn't be a good signing. they'd just move Betemit to third.

By the way donut boy,
Nice comments during the season regarding Giambi & Damon. If you were in Cashman's office, you would have dumped both for a bucket of baseballs.
Oh, one question....do you come back last night without those 2 players?
So, not only are you a low-life for laughing at someone who had cancer, but you also have no baseball knowledge. Go away!

I would just like to thanks Byung-Hyun Kim, I mean Okie for allowing the Yankees to pull that historic comeback win late in the game. Like I said trick pitcher just like Kim. On the other hand I think Paps will be OK, but he is no Mo and never will be. Mo has been doing this since before everyone was looking for the next Mo after some flash in the pan pitcher had a good year.
That was a impressive bull pen the sox put out there last night. Six runs in the 8th before a out was made??? WOW!!!! I am sure that doesn't happen all that much and not against what sox fans like to call the best bullpen ever or is it 3 next Mo's? They didn't even bother to get Gags up.
I am wondering why the sox brought their closer into the 8th inning with no one out when Paps never pitches 2 innings? That move reeks of desperation and panic. Why are the sox in panic mode with such a big lead????
BTW - noticed DK was dropped in my baseball fantasy league last night. Must be that 5 walks and 4 hits in 5 innings for a 1.59 WHIP last night.
OUCH!!!

This is just late season crap from the media. They do everything they can to stir up crap for october.
A Rod goes to either Anaheim or Boston next year. Both teams can compete for the $ and A Rod originally wanted to come to Boston for less money but the union wouldn't let him restructure his contract for less. The Sox are going to be rid of Manny after next season, so the money is there PLUS they will let A Rod go back to his original position SS.
If a team has a chance at getting the best player in major league history they will pay HUGE, 10 years and $300 mil will be easily paid back in revenue he generates and the fact that he will eventually break every major record there is. Plus he HATES NY and most of the team.

Also I think Arod will be back. There is a really good chance of that. Even if Arod is back I hope to god that the Yankees are not dumb enough to sign Lowell. One good year for a 33 year old who has had up and down seasons is asking for problems. He is probably going to get paid based on this year and I think most of his numbers are inflated by Fenway and a little good luck. His pull happy swing will not work in Yankee stadium. It is 400 feet to left center and there is not a 50 foot wall 200 feet away to bail you out when you hit a lazy fly ball to left. I hope the sox sign him to a big money contract.

lastchoice,
Just to show that some Sox fans can take the bad with the good...I'm here today! Take you best shots....that was a disturbing game last night! Of course, the best thing about baseball is that there's another game today.
Enjoy the opportunity to brag. Your team had a great inning last night. I have to wonder, however, about any Yank fan that calls last night's comback, "HISTORIC". Please, tell me you have a better knowledge of baseball than that. The Yanks have been coming back all year, haven't they. The lead the AL in runs scored in the 8th & 9th innings this season. And how can a Yank fan (with their history) get this pumped up over a regular season game.....You seem too excited over one win. If the Sox win the next 2, last night's comback value fades away. And, I'm not saying that the Sox win the next 2, but they will play 2 & that's a fact.
Remember after game 3 of 2004 ALCS..... a team (Red Sox) couldn't be down anymore that that. I remember all Yank fans were calling Game 3, a historic game. (because of the blow-out). And then what happened?
But, I will agree that Papelbon should not have been in the game in the 8th. Francona mismanaged the bullpen in my opinion. That's not to take anything away from the Yanks. Papelbon was not ready when he came in. Smart approach from the Yank hitters....jumping on the first pitches. Once he threw a few pitches, he was better....he should have thrown those pitches in the bullpen not from the mound. Francona should not have let Okie stay in after the back-to-back. The problem with last night's game is that Francona managed it differently than he has all year. (maybe because he wasn't prepared) Papelbon was never, never, brought in to get 6 outs this season. And he rushed him in. He also should have had Manny Delcarmen warming up (with Gagne) at the start of the 8th. And held Pap for the 9th (or maybe until 2 outs in the 8th).
But this series does crazy things to both managers. There is so much pressure to win every game that Torre & Francona change their approach from the other "non-Sox/Yank" games. I remember Pettitte pitching in relief 2 days after he got knocked out as a starter earlier this year....hmm,,,Do we see Andy out of the bullpen tomorrow night? I also remember Joe using Mariano for 2 inning saves against the Sox (with poor results). So, if the best manager in MLB can get lost sometimes, I guess it can happen to Francona also.
Bottom line, it was one game.....but a trend is developing. The Sox need to win tonite or tomorrow. By the way, is anyone getting tired of 5 hour 9-inning baseball games?

Big Cat, it was hard to make out your BS since you did most of your talking out of your arse. Boston sux and if Arod does not like NY he will hate Boston. Boston media is as bad or worse and so are the fans. I agree about there being a chance of him going to the Angels or some other team out west. You are dead wrong about any team being able to match the yankees. The yanks get a 10 million a year discount from the Rangers trade. So to sum things up you are a moron who should shut up when you do not know what you are talking about so that you do not look so dumb.

RI, I knew you would be here, but expected maybe another sox fan or too after how they were acting yesterday. Well, no I didn't really expect them to come out :)
This was the first time the yanks beat the sox like this at home in about 40 years. If it were Tampa then yeah, no big deal. I was speaking more to the fact that it was all done without making a out in the 8th. I don't know, but that could not of happen too much and not against the number 1 team in Sept against the #2 team in the div. I don't recall ever seeing that.
Andy might not of pitched many innings, but his pitch count was high, so no Andy tonight, maybe he faces one batter on Sunday. Let me guess Ortiz???
I think Francona kind of set the tone here by acting so desperate to win. This was just the 1st game. I know they want to win one, but now the pen is in bad shape for the whole series. Also he said that they were just looking to win one. To me that means there are some bad vibes in that locker room. You should never look at a series that way even if it is true. You should look at wining the series or sweeping. Then if you fall short you can say well at least we won one. Bringing paps in the 8th and that fact that he was warming up also reek of panic. Francona also said after the game something about how he was already thinking about having to bring Okie into the 8th even before Okie threw a pitch. These are all bad signs.
Not true. Paps was brought in to the 8th for a save against the yanks before and that was one of his other BS this year and the sox lost. I don't recall how many outs there were, so it might not of been 6 out save, but it was still in the 8th.

First of all Mr. Joey smiles like a donut.....You must be a Yankee fan showing class like that. I'm sure you made your fellow "fans" proud by bucking the stereotype that Yankeee fans are crass, obnoxious, and just plain stupid. The worst part is that you rip Lowell like that, and your own manager, Joe Torre himself, is a cancer survivor. What an idiot.
Secondly, Lastchoice....you call last night a historic win? How about April 20th of this year when the sox scored 5 in the 8th inning at Fenway to win against the Yanks? Is that historic? Or mothers day this year when they scored 6 in the ninth to beat Baltimore? Or is it just when the Yankees pull something out of their as*es it becomes historic? Or how about game 3 in '04? Was that "historic" because the Yanks blew out the Sox? Oh yeah, how did that series end up again? It always makes me laugh that just because the Yankees do something out of the ordinary, a come from behind win, a blowout win, etc..that it is viewed by the "Yankee people" as historic simply because Michael "most annoying voice on the planet" Kay says so. It's pathetic. I've never seen a group of people so excited when their team was still 4 1/2 games out of first place. It's pretty comical. GO SOX!!!!
