08:15 AM ET 08.11 | Portland's Rudy Fernandez stock may be falling. Will a solid, or even spectacular, showing at the Worlds be enough to raise his stock with NBA teams? Maybe ... maybe not. We checked with two Western Conference scouts and one Eastern Conference executive about Fernandez and got lukewarm responses about him. ... "Something was missing from his game last season. He just didn't play with any fire the times I watched him," the Eastern Conference executive said. "For a guy whose games is all about energy and passion, that was an alarming sign for me. But he's still young, just 25, and learning his way around this league. So I wouldn't close the book on him yet."

He didn't get any burn and was discouraged. He's an excellent three point shooter that does little else well or at all.

If the Bulls get him, I hope they do not overpay

I think he's a decent player just stuck behind Brandon Roy. He probably feels he deserves to starts and wants to, thus, not playing with fire and passion coming off the bench.

Can u imagine Rubio? They think they're stars already so they don't have to work hard. Gasoline brothers are d exceptions.

I openly question if Rubio is any good...

This summer, Rudy wanted PORT to buy him out or let him out of his contact $1.25m, so he could return to Spain.
...Why PORT first got Luke Babbitt the #16 first round pick from MINN, and then added Wesley Matthews RFA from Utah, who after UTAH move Brewer Wes was the starting oG for Utah...
So Rudy can see on paper his minute going Bye-Bye....
But PORT looking for a first round pick for Rudy...over valued...maybe two second round picks.

QUOTE(#9):

Would it be because he know's he'll only be playing 8 - 10 minutes a game behind Brandon Roy.... seriously, trade him to a team that'll give him minutes and watch him put up some solid numbers. Why do you think Portland is asking quite a bit regarding a trade for his services....

The way PORT plays him both at oG, sF, Rudy played 23.2 mpg last year, only 8.1 pts, year before 25.6 mpg, 10.4 pts. So Rudy is getting minutes.

Good shooter, not a good defender.

The think the "other" GMs are opining to bring Rudy's value down so someone can snarl him. basically acting against Portland's interest. This happens in the league all the time. There is no real way to gauge a player's worth who hasn't been getting consistent minutes.
But then again Portland is KNOWN to have over valued MOST of its young guns, which is why they are now stuck still being an young team with not much success playoffs wise.

If i were Portland's GM, I did move over from Rudy's headache, just move him, and address other issues on the team. This is a no-win situation.

His defense may be poor, but offensively he can do more than just shoot. He's a great athlete with hops and (in his first year at Portland) wasn't afraid to take it to the hole and draw contact.
