The nation's best offensive backfield?

08:14 AM ET 08.12 | Better than Alabama with Greg McElroy, Boise State with Kellen Moore and Texas A&M with Jerrod Johnson and Co., the best offensive backfield in the nation could be found this season in Blacksburg, Va. QB Tyrod Taylor has made big strides as a passer and remains a dangerous threat when he runs. Running backs Ryan Williams and Darren Evans might be the nation's best tandem; if they're not No. 1, they certainly are No. 2.

Is this not a re-tread of a T&R they had last week? Interns getting lazy.

T&R had a story a few weeks back regarding the best RB duo in the country, this is slightly different. Either way, the obvious answer is Demps, Moody & Brantley <giggle> ;)

+1.

Did Greg McElroy get special all of a sudden, and I missed it?

McElroy isn't outr strength, obviously. We're a run first team and our backfield is Ingram and Richardson.

Trent Richardson is probably thinking "where's the love, man, where's the love?

I don't think McElroy is anything special, but I think I read somewhere that he has not lost a game that he started in since early high school. That's impressive.

Seriously ... Tyrod Taylor is a crazy talent.

When I hear the words "best offensive backfield" my mind conjures up images of Ingram and Richardson not Kellen Moore and ... what's his name? ... you know the smurf who runs the ball 6 or 7 times a game for BSU.

All of yas hate on McElroy all yoa want. He doesn't make many mistakes, though. 4 INTs in 14 games. Pretty darn nice! He's not an offensive joogernaught or anything, but I like the few mistakes.

Yes, but, a Jerrod Johnson, Christine Michael, Cyrus Gray backfield is a very good group of players. Now if their Oline weren't little league.

Johnson was one of those "athlete" recruits who got a shot at QB when McGee got hurt. This is a make-or-break year for Johnson. He still has a lot to learn about the QB position and teams now have a full year of film to study his tendencies.

Speaking of McGee remember the McGee-to-Shipley connection at at Burnet High? I never understood why A&M took a record-setting drop-back passer and put him in an option offense.

AMEN brother. And many of you must not have watched the Auburn game or the SEC CG from last season where he showed what he can do when needed. Bama is sorry that they did not need him to perform like that the entire season but were able to leverage what IS the best backfield in CF to win games.

We're just spoiled here in TX we've churned out so many starting QBs for the rest of CFB that we've become our own worst critics.

Seriously ... you can get away with a ball control offense if you have a dominant defense -- which Bama had last year. With all the player turnover on defense it will be interesting to see if anything changes. McElroy may be called upon to do more this year if the 'D gives up more points.

Hokies with only 5 defensive starters back against a Boise st offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in the nation last season. Broncos qb Kellen Moore is 26-1 as a starter.

Still i believe Boise st is out of their league on this one, give me $5000. to win on VT please. Hey River you live in Vegas, the Broncos still the favorite?
Oh Boy! Cant wait !! hee hee..
