The Notre Dame quarterback derby may have its second casualty. Sophomore Demetrius Jones, who started the Irish's season opener but didn't last a half, did not make the trip to Michigan with the team Friday for Saturday's game and reportedly will seek a transfer. Rumored destinations include Northwestern, Northern Illinois and Tennessee, where former Morgan Park teammate Ramone Johnson plays for the Volunteers.

Getting away from Notre Dame and the "offensive genius" from New Jersey is the first step in the right direction for any student-athlete looking to improve their life situation. Good for you Demetrius! You're on the right track - out of South Bend.

Northwestern. He's from the area. And Northwestern is awesome. My second favorite school!

Yea. pulling a kobe, except YOU SUCK... the teams sucks so its time to bail. If only you remembered that every ND game is on NBC! How do you go to ND... and the only other teams that want you are NORTHWESTERN AND NORTHERN ILLINOIS???

September 15, 2007  09:46 AM ET

The Vols are the likely choice...he was going to tranfer after last season...I don't know why he didn't...nobody likes that back stabbin, greazy, sleazy cheese burger eating, Jenny Craig drop out son of a gun(I mean bit-ch)of a coach Chuncky Charlie

Are the Irish going to blame Ty for this one as well?

September 15, 2007  10:12 AM ET

The guy wants to play, and knows Clausen is the future....I don't understand all the ND hating here...

...except by Michigan fans jealous that Notre Dame has the same record they do...

Glad he wants to transfer. Weis definitely did not give him a fair chance. However, if I was him I would not go to Tennessee. Fulmer is not exactly that forgiving with QB's either (see C.J. Leak as example).

I think he should go to Northwestern or Northern Illinois where he would definitely be the starter and put into a system that would showcase his talents.

Demetrius Jones SUCKS!!!

September 15, 2007  10:43 AM ET

BYE!! Have a nice day. Lose a year of eligibility, or strap on your helmet and COMPETE for the job. You sucke against GT and Clausen although not as mobile is a way better passer than you. Don't forget to write.

Hey warden, why don't you focus on your crappy UM team who was ranked FIFTH then got whacked by a DIV 1AA team at HOME!! You got nerve even talking. Oh yeah OREGON handede you you ****!!! GO PAC 10

September 15, 2007  12:02 PM ET

Hey Rodsucker,

My comments are about the idiot ND fans that blame TY. I also comment about some of the idiot UM fans that want Lloyd fired as if that's going to help the team. And I'll comment on what ever the hell I want to comment on. If you don't like it, too bad. Go cry to your mother instead of on here.

Btw, that 1AA would destroy notre dame just like they took UM out. And Oregon would have KILLED ND just like they did UM.

On that note, it will be fun to see two dysfunctional teams play today. May the one on the most anti depressants win!

Btw, looks like UM has kicked a player off the team. Johnny Sears might be absent from today's game.

Hey jack hole UM fan youre the one crying. Thought you were one of the elite teams this year.......NOT! So go get whacked by NW PSU OSU MSU and go to the motor city bowl where the suck **** maize and blue belong!!!

When teams lose true colors come out...

September 15, 2007  01:48 PM ET

I respect the kid's choice to transfer. He clearly is not the future for ND at qb with Jimmy and the kid coming next year who some say is better than Jimmy.

I know he's from Chicago, so NIU makes sense. But I find it amusing that he goes from a school with no wins to a school who blew a 20 point lead to a 1AA team at home in the fourth quarter. Whatever though, it's his choice. I think though that he should have stayed and tryed to fight to earn the job back.

September 15, 2007  01:57 PM ET

He is going to Northern Illinois.

September 15, 2007  02:07 PM ET

It's a good choice. Actually, I said yesterday he should go to a MAC school so I am very happy by the news.

September 15, 2007  02:20 PM ET

Let him go. Coach finally decided to start the right QB *Claussen* and the loss of Jones won't make any difference what so ever. With ND not having any championship thoughts at any point this season, it makes sense to hand the reigns to the younger guy with more potential.

September 15, 2007  03:27 PM ET

maybe if ND had a line, RB, or Receivers, or any combination thereof, he would've been able to show what he can do (good or bad). He'd be making a good decision chosing to play for Pat Fitzgerald instead of the current egomaniac he has to deal with.
i like the 'Ty' remark. i think he also got blamed for the rampant pedophilia in the Catholic Church.

Rodbuster beats around the bush too much for me. I like guys who can just come out and say what's really on their minds!

Well, if Jones wants to transfer then I respect his decision and Jones had a shot in leading the team but sputtered. Good luck with the new team.

I watched the first-half and man so many errors right when they started the game. Well, if this keeps up this would mean a rebuilding year, however, I will still root for Notre Dame. Well, waiting for the second half and we shall see what happens. Goo Notre Dame.
