08:04 AM ET 08.13 | While the slim chance Tom Brady would sign an extension before the preseason opener has passed, a report out of Boston has the quarterback and the Patriots nearing an accord. While the preseason kicked off with the Pats beating the Saints, 27-24, Tom Brady carried on without exhibiting even the slightest hint of trouble, as he continues to hold onto the final year of a deal that is due to pay him $3.5 million in base salary, with a $3 million roster bonus. Maybe that's because the two sides appear closer than they've been in quite some time. They look to be inching toward the desired extension for Brady.

Why would the Pats be having trouble with Beib...er..Brady? I'm sure they want to make the deal. And he will get what Kraft thinks he deserves. What a silly article. Let us know when the deal has been reached.

Yea, verily. More Giselle. Even fully dressed she looks better than half the avatars on the forum.

And for the Spam posts, we want more Facelift Bar and Persons of Breath.

Good point, Otis. Why should we even be discussing football in the Victoria Secret section of T&R?

Yeah, a picture of Brady with a goofy haircut would be acceptable - as long as he's standing next to Giselle.

Tom who? Oh that guy, I remember him. I thought he got hurt? ( Said with much, sarcasm.).

Signing Tom Brady prolly isn't all that important. He should just let his deal run our so he can come to SF and three peat here.

August 13, 2010  09:12 AM ET

they appear closer..like a sideview mirror? interesting...

August 13, 2010  09:19 AM ET

How much would San Fran pay him to sling some footballs for a few years for them.

Owners are horribly cheapstakes; willing to go to the wire before signing ANY one.
They'll get a deal made before season. Go Pats!

Yeah, but what's that mean in a lockout year? If they franchise him and there's no season, they don't have to pay him, but after that I guess he's free to walk, right?

My guess is he'll want big money next year, lockout or no lockout, guaranteed. And my guess is Kraft will write the check, too.

You still need to shave, I got a lawn mower, would that help? (Where did you get that pick, smoking gun?).

Whatever it is, it's a lot of paper bags.

The whole thing is silly.....Brady gets signed before the start of the season and throws the absurd and moronic media conjecture to the side and simply plays football....

Kraft is a long way from stupid too. I hope.

Let's hope so. They are more savvy than cheap. Remember, the looming lockout makes this hard for both sides. The owners don't want to get nailed if the cap comes back in full force with different restrictions. For Brady, he could end up signing a deal that looks big now but could end up being chump-change if the players finagle a deal that allows for max guarantees with few restrictions. If that happens, watch the 'Skins sign Tomlinson in 2012 to a $100M dollar deal:)

It will get done. I think the Colts will personally have a harder time with Manning. They have some big deals in the books and not as much to work with financially in that market. Besides, Manning's wife brings no financial stability to the picture.

Speaking of pictures, Where the f is Gisele!?!?

Let's hope so. They are more savvy than cheap. Remember, the looming lockout makes this hard for
