Notre Dame's Weis: 'I'm embarrassed'

After a humiliating 38-0 loss to Michigan on Saturday, Irish coach Charlie Weis laid down this edict: He's trashing all that Notre Dame has done so far and starting training camp anew on Sunday. "We're starting training camp tomorrow," Weis said. "We already talked to the players, they're coming in early to get their treatment, and they're not watching this game. Because obviously three games in, the team is headed in the wrong direction. And the only way I know, when the team is headed in the wrong direction, the only way I know to fix it is to come out swinging. Obviously I'm embarrassed by that performance out there."

Chuck's lost control, his team, and depth at QB.

Follow it each week on NBC.

So now will you admit this is a rebuilding season Charlie? Rebuilding heading into the fourth game of the season. LOL!!!

September 16, 2007  10:00 AM ET

Weis should be embarrassed...about the fact that he's still going to accept a paycheck from that school. His idiotic talk about starting training camp again is further proof that he doesn't have a freakin' clue. It's a lot harder to stop a team when you're not stealing their signals, isn't it? This guy is a disgrace.

Enjoy the rest of your beatings ND fans. The bleeding won't stop any time soon.

the team is headed in the wrong direction

Actually Chuck, your doing great, don't change a thing.

September 16, 2007  10:25 AM ET

Never really been a ND fan, but I have to say I am starting to feel bad for them in a lower bowel type of way. Their play calling and performance is sub-sickening. They are going to be in for a heck of a long year, regardless of Charlies' boot camp after three games.

September 16, 2007  10:38 AM ET

Charlie should either quit or demand that his contract be renegotiated to lower his salary.

September 16, 2007  10:58 AM ET

All I heard about from ND fans is just wait till Charlie gets his recruits into the program. This is his 3rd year, they should be getting better not worse. ND screwed up hiring a coach with no head coaching experience.

NO! At_Home@Wrigley! Please do not ever feel bad for that evil evil place and its evil evil people!
Go Trojans

September 16, 2007  11:17 AM ET

I'm embarrassed for you too, Chuck.

In a happy sorta way.

September 16, 2007  11:18 AM ET

You know what's embarrassing? That bloated belly.

September 16, 2007  11:32 AM ET

I love it when Notre Dame stinks it up. Whew, 38-0! I can smell that stink hole from Louisiana.

September 16, 2007  11:41 AM ET

This is what happens when an "offensive genius" outsmarts his own self. Trying to implement the spread offense to beat Michigan was shameful. I had a good ole time watching that game.

Finally!!

Go Blue!!!

September 16, 2007  11:49 AM ET

Maybe Charlie Weiss can bring in Bill Callaghan from Nebraska and fix thing up quick. I mean, after all, look how well the Huskers are playing now ! Oh, wait..........maybe that's NOT such a good idea either.......

September 16, 2007  12:13 PM ET

Notre Dame is in trouble. Huge trouble, I mean with Michigan State, U.C.L.A., Purdue, Boston College and U.S.C. ahead on the schedule it's going to be a bleak season ahead.

I think ND is looking at 5-7 or at best a 6-6 season.

September 16, 2007  12:13 PM ET

My bad. I forgot they already lost three and I named 5 teams they could lose to. Change my prediction to 4-8 and at best 5-7.

September 16, 2007  12:28 PM ET

You ought to be, Casper Gutman.

September 16, 2007  12:35 PM ET

All of you ND haters can have your fun now. You have every right to bask in this horrible display of football so far this year.

But they'll be back. Because if you recall, ND football was "dead" and "irrelevant" three years ago when they went 5-7. And they've only been to two BCS games since then. Enjoy this year because we all know ND will be back soon enough.

September 16, 2007  12:37 PM ET

2 BCS games and 2 **** kickings if I remember correctly.

September 16, 2007  12:46 PM ET

Sure, they lost them both. But going and losing is FAR from being "dead" or "irrelevant". In fact, most programs would kill for the chance to go and lose. It's only a matter of time until they're winning again. I don't see anybody going crazy about Michigan, Ohio State, or Oklahoma for laying eggs in their BCS games last year. That's what kills you all about ND so much: that they lose and you still can't stop talking about them.

September 16, 2007  01:02 PM ET

ND is like the Yankees. Their fans praise them when they suck, and haters (like myself) celebrate when they lose.

38-0!
