Sources familiar with the situation say that Scott Rolen interpreted "push back" from the Cardinals front office when he notified it of the need for additional surgery. He later met with general partner chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. and rejected the club's recommendation that team medical supervisor Dr. George Paletta, not Cincinnati Reds orthopedist Dr. Timothy Kremchek, perform the procedure.

Is there anything Rolen doesn't**** about? This guy is SUCH a disappointment over the last couple of years. He is much more consumed with being difficult and arguing with management than he is concerned about his awful offensive performance..

I think you all need to take grammar and spelling lessons. While you are at it...how can you call yourself Cardinal fans but continue to belittle players on your team. Stand up for them....don't push them down.

September 18, 2007  11:28 PM ET

I stand up for any Cardinal that plays with desire......Rolen has been lacking in that department the last couple of years......

maybe Rusty Branyan can take over, that is if he can hit the Mendoza line again... no wonder LaRussa is going...Rolen, a believer in the Colon diet,,runs like a gazelle you know... no worries, the Dodgers prefer aged beef, there he will find a home ,displayed as a living fossil...

Yeah...Russell Branyan.....there's a good long-term answer......
