There's been enough trash-talk leading up to Monday night's football premiere of the $1.7 billion New Meadowlands Stadium they built together with the help of your PSL dollars, to illustrate that not only are the Giants competing with the Cowboys, and the Jets competing with the Patriots, but they take the rivalry with each other very seriously. The Giants have owned this city forever, except for three hours on the afternoon of Jan. 12, 1969, and the Jets are attempting to talk their way into a hostile takeover.

The Jets serve the NY Metro area's role as the hometown team not named the Giants. Most Giants fans are over the top obnoxious so by being a Jets fan you can disassociate yourself with the Giants (Yankees <>METs). This is at least what I would want to do if I lived there....

What's curious is that most Giants fans are also Yankees fans, while Jets fans always seem to be Mets fans and hate the Yankees. I've always been curious why that particular dynamic exists in the New York fandom.
Obviously there are exceptions (I'm one of them: Yankees/Jets). So I'm not saying it's always like this, but there is a startling correlation among the vast majority between Giants/Yanks<> Jets/Mets.
For example people outside the city always **** their heads in confusion when I tell them I'm a Yankee fan who roots for the Jets. Like the concept is totally alien to their worldview. I just respond that the Jets "keep me grounded" and prevent me from becoming a total anus like most Yankee/Giants fans seem to be. While I thoroughly enjoy the Yankees' unparalleled success and awesomeness, the Jets let me experience a little humility and suffering to balance life out. In my opinion, too much of one thing or the other taints a person and disrupts their ability to be objective.

Sanchez sucked last year. His numbers were pretty bad but he is paraded around like he is a star.
His rating was below Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jay Cutler, Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel. Sanchez had 8 more picks than TD's.
They hit their high water mark last year, gonna be a long season with all those bulls-eyes on them.
