Tinkering Lincecum finding no answers

08:08 AM ET 08.16 | Just 2-3 with a 4.85 ERA since the All-Star Game, Tim Lincecum has come unglued statistically. Perhaps more worrisome, his velocity, which once regularly hit 97 mph, topped out Sunday at 93 mph. Plus, he cannot stop tinkering with things, a sure sign of a pitcher badly out of sorts and uncomfortable in his skin. Lincecum has altered his windup, his delivery and even his warmup music, risking antagonizing the spirit of Jim Morrison by changing from The Doors to MGMT. "I'm trying to change too many things to fix things," he acknowledged. "You start focusing on the negative, and you start exacerbating things, and it manifests itself. I can't keep searching."

First real comment! I've said it once and i'll say it again, I'm a huge fan of Tim's. I really hope he can shake the funk he's currently in. I know it's the elephant in the room, but does anyone think he could have been on PED's in his cy young seasons?

Weight of the hair is throwing off his forward momentum?

well, it's either the hair...or he needs to drive to Humboldt Co. and pick up some of the really 'good' ****. ;-)

Given his slight build, I think he'd be well served by starting to work more on finesse and less on power anyway.

Just give him some weed and a haircut and he'll be fine

Sounds like he is entering the Dead-arm part of the season we hear about.

Agree: Huge fan of Tim's - hopes and thinks he'll rebound.
Disagree: PED's. Not even a quesiton. No way.

Absolutely no chance that he was on PEDs. Look at the kid. He bends on windy days. He's has a really violent motion and his velocity has been down almost all season. Chances are in the offseason we'll see him have a minor procedure of some sort.

More pitchers need to get on a weightlifting/cardio regimen. Its amazing how many are scrawny and/or out of shape. It really does take stress off the shoulder/arm when you can get more leverage and power out of a developed lower body. A lot of people forget how much of your pitching velocity is derived from your legs.

And he's still good. Very good actually. He's just been going through a funk. Look at his numbers this year.
