08:36 AM ET 08.16 | While Rich Rodriguez waits to name a starter, fall practice may be paving the way for Denard Robinson. As the position battles continue, the highest-profile one is drawing the most attention from observers. The Big Ten Network's studio crew was permitted access to practice Friday morning, and the two analysts agreed about one key point: Denard Robinson looks like Michigan's quarterback. "Denard Robinson really stood out to me," BTN analyst Howard Griffith said. "Seeing him in the spring and seeing him again (Friday), he's starting to make that next jump to becoming the starting QB."

The most intriguing position battle at Michigan will likely take place after the season ends... to see who the starting Head Coach will be next year.

Amen

Can he play defense too? TSUN's D has looked like a WAC team.

100% agree.

Yep, RichRod has to win 9 games to keep his job, and that will not happen this year, he can win 8 at the most, and that may be a stretch; and that stinks as a Mich fan.

Trust me, they'll bring him back if he wins at least 8 games this year but one of those games HAS to be Michigan State. He could get fired the following Monday if Sparty beats him again this year.

What if the RichRodines lose a heartbreaker to Sparty on a freakish play, then upset tOSU on a combination of lucky breaks? Does RR get another year at the helm?

I don't think it matters how many games he wins.

So, if the NCAA gets around to pronouncing it's verdict on UM infractions under RR, and they conclude that RichRod is guilty of promoting an atmosphere of non-compliance, does the University dismiss him for cause and let an interim coach lead the program during the season (while they stealthily search, probe for potential replacements)?

RichRod will be there next year if the team makes a bowl game. The school spent $4 million to buy him out and has been dragged through the mud repeatedly. They can't fire him yet.

I'm not sure 6-6 and a lousy bowl saves his job. Especially with the infractions committee issues.

I think the dude has to go 8-4 and beat Ohio State, maybe he'll get by if he beats Mich State. But, he'd better put in a decent year and 8-4 might be decent for him this year.

And not for the last time, thank you, Rita, for stopping us from making a really bad hire....

They should try for Harbaugh. I know he has had some bad feelings towards UM over the last few years, but I'm sure if they came to him, hat in hand, talked to him respectfully and contritely, that he would listen to what they have to say.

Here's a news tip that has gone unreported so far.....Michigan has tickets available for 6 of their 7 home games including the 9/4 "Re-dedication" of their stadium game versus UConn. Not a good sign.

This is RichieRod's 3rd year and the 3rd time he has started with a rookie QB. Does this sound like program building to you?

Right on!!! 8 wins and victory over MSU and he is definitely back.

I am on the fence with this but I have said 6-6 and bowl victory that there is a good possibility he will be back.

depends on the on-field performance and the penalties. I honestly don't think the athletic directors or the trustees at the school are thinking "let's cut our losses" if that happens.
