08:38 AM ET 08.16 | Prince Shembo, who admits he nearly de-committed from Notre Dame, is making an early name for himself in South Bend. Shembo is one of the rookies that first-year Irish coach Brian Kelly has singled out, calling him a "very, very good football player" and including him in the list of candidates to play at the inside linebacker spot opposite Manti Te'o. Kelly added that the linebacker corps will need a guy who can play inside and outside in Notre Dame's 3-4 defense, with Shembo possibly filling that spot.

I hope the defense is better than it was last year, if this kid has talent it shouldn't be to hard to start.

Rookies get paid, while freshmen are college footbal players.

I will be interesting to see how the Irish look this year. Totally different mind set for the players.

Totally agree. In the recent past, they were still hyped up but nobody outside of Lou Holtz thought they would be any good. With Kelly, it might not just be hype.

No way does Shembo crack the two deep much less the starting spot, so keep him on the roster for 2015

That's contrary to the article (and we know the writer has an extensive knowledge of his own navel lint). So, who will get the nod to start, and who will be first sub (so to speak)?

Because, the writer felt guilty after degenerating into jokes about Shembo's name. FN picked it up because some "Webeditor" was facing a deadline and scraped it.

This is the same thing people say on a lot of stories. It's written by local guys near their university. It IS a story to the people in South Bend. I don't know how T&R picks up stories, but I think we should all realize the stories aren't really written for us. They're written more for the local people who want to eat up everything about their team.

How bout that bleacher report, 'ND recruiting, 5 names that would put Irish in the top five'.
Go get em coach Kelly.

Prince Shembo sounds like a character in a Disney movie.

The Top 5 of what? Notre Dame's problems seem to be coaching related, but after 5 years of the offensive genius running the team, I'm beginning to think it's something related to 2012 and the end of time. Maybe ND's football glory was the first to go in the rapture back in the mid 90s, unfortunately nobody noticed.

QUOTE(#14):

There are only really 3 MLB's that will get play time. Manti T'eo won't miss a snap and Calabrese and McDonald on his right. Unless T'eo gets injuried I dont' expect to see anyone besides number 5 running that defense.

I bet the MLBs who play opposite T'eo will have good stats, due to defenses keying in on him.
