Making East Lake's layout tougher
Behind the scenes there did not seem too much concern over how the ridiculous scoring reflected on the tournament and East Lake Golf Club. In order to save the bentgrass greens in this season of excessive heat, they were moderately mowed and extensively watered. That made them easy pickings. Behind the scenes, there was the understanding that these players had better enjoy the under-par picnic while they can. Changes are in the wind for East Lake. Come next May or June, the bentgrass greens are to be replaced by Bermuda. During that reconstruction, there may also be a liposuction on the fairways, to tighten up some landing areas.

Then again maybe Tiger is just that good. I believe 13 under par won last year, which isn't bad. It's just that Tiger ate the course for lunch. Remember when he did tha to Augusta?
