Tensions heat up between Logano, Newman after Michigan

11:13 AM ET 08.16 | NASCAR has a new feud as tensions flared between drivers Joey Logano and Ryan Newman. The two got into a heated dispute following Sunday's race at Michigan after Logano wiggled and spun out Newman. Though the No. 39 didn't hit anything after spinning out, Newman was still angry that he was put in that position to begin with by Logano. The two argued about the incident, with the confrontation ending in a light shove from Newman. Logano is hopeful the two can eventually work out their problems. "You know, I've done with (Newman) a lot -- if he gets behind me, I'll let him go," Logano said. "But I don't know what to tell you. I wish I could talk to him and figure it out, but I think we both need to calm down first and then talk about it."

Little Bread loaf has been making too many of these little mistakes. It appears to me he is running out of skill in turn 3.

If NASCAR is true to their word about let boys be boys, Newman did the RIGHT thing here.. he addressed the issue man to man, not fender to fender.

Well, for Newman he had to be cool on the track, cause every point counts 14th in points 103 out of the Chase....and now IF Newman would have finished 10th like Joey did, instead of 23rd Ryan would have picked up another 40 points, and only be 63 points out with 3 races to go.

Awww, we're fine.

'Logano wiggled'. Man that's just racing, get over it, Newman

true to his comments after the Edwards/Kesolowski penalty, Ryan addressed the issue with the other participant OFF the track, as he stated it SHOULD be done, some three weeks ago.

It seems like whenever there is an incident with Lagano and someone else, it's always the other guy's fault. When you factor in what his dad has done this year (in wanting to pick fights with other driver's crew members) that his dad has always told little Joey that it's never his fault. That is part of the problem with youth sports today also. Parents and the kids not wanting to accept responsibility for their actions.

Little Joey got inside of Newman and couldn't hold the turn so he should have lifted. Instead he spun Newman. That's fine, its just racing, but afterward own up to it and apologize to the man for spinning him. Don't blame him for being in your way when you got loose.

The pushing and shoving is what makes watching the races fun. Newman-Logano, Edwards-Kesolowski, Harvick-Anybody. It's great entertainment.

August 16, 2010  01:15 PM ET

Joey blamed Ryan for racing too hard, but failed to lift and caused the spin himself. All well and good, but admit to it Joey, don't blame the other guy for racing too hard. Newman still has a shot at the chase, so I don't blame him for being mad, especially after Joey denied causing it.

Look at Newman's structure compared to Happy's. If I was the pimple faced little guy, I would not step over the line in the sand this time.

newman is a bulldog.. Dont let harvick fool you, he was a great highschool wrestler. I think harvick is becoming more mature, and is concentrating on the championship, rather than some teenager.

agreed!

Newman would break Logano in half if he ever got his hands on him

August 16, 2010  04:32 PM ET

Ryan Newman strikes me as someone who has the personality of a dead cat, and WHATS WITH THAT CEREAL BOWL HAIRCUT, RYAN??!!!
hey i turned on the race yesterday right when the 5 was pitting with front end damage, but they never showed what he did to get the damage...was he in a wreck?? was he sipping his metamucil shake and lost control of the car?? was he using "just for (short) men haircoloring" and wasnt paying attention to the track in front of him?

August 16, 2010  05:16 PM ET

I heard that he still has a large supply of Viagra from when they sponsored him. They did have a bit of trouble getting him in the window yesterday.

Agreed, but as much as I like Logano he needs to own up to it.

Logano still gets my vote for best insult of the year after Harvick wiped him out at Pocono though.

Sith; it takes a few years in the bigs before thay will own up to much of anything. They come into Cup at a young age and they ride the pink cloud for a while. Have to agree about the Harvick shot.
