Rangers take away Vlad's green light?

08:14 AM ET 08.17 | Ron Washington appears to be willing to curb 35-year-old Vladimir Guerrero's enthusiasm for running. After he was thrown out with the tying run at the plate in the ninth of Saturday's 3-1 loss to Boston, a simply inexcusable mistake, manager Ron Washington accepted the blame for not holding Guerrero. The same mistake won't happen again. Washington won't completely shut Guerrero down from running, but he will pay much closer to attention. "I'm going to be more aware of the situations when I need to stop him," Washington said.

I'm thinking "curb his green light" in this instance actually means "tell this guy point blank not to run through stop signs". I can't imagine this fellow has green light to do anything at this point in his career. So I'm thinking 'rein him in' means threaten to bench him a game or two if he doesn't get with the program.
