Irish QB talked trash--down 31-0!

In the middle of Saturday's third quarter, Michigan linebacker Shawn Crable rushed Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen. Michigan's senior defensive captain burst through the line, leapt as he approached Clausen and flew toward the freshman, unable to stop after Clausen released the ball. Crable accepted a roughing the passer penalty and said the call didn't bother him. Apparently it got to Clausen, though, whose Notre Dame team was already losing, 31-0. "He started talking and I didn't really understand that," Crable said. "He doesn't get rattled but he is a freshman. I just told him I'm going to be right back to see him. Then my coach told me to shut up and I was on the sidelines."

How the hell is this news? The kid was obviously frustrated, and didn't appreciate the late hit.

Being a Wolverine fan I really feel for this QB...if they don't get him some protection he won't see a sophmore season...a healthy one anyway.

This is really pathetic of SI to have this in here. Every team has to stand up and be tough no matter how much they're down. This wouldn't be news no matter which team they were talking about. I mean, it's just as much "news" that Crable got a RTP penalty up 31-0. Shameless attempt to rouse up the ND talk from SI...

The TRUTH is not at all sympathetic towards pickle-boy...this is the same numchuk that proclaimed 4 National Championships at his signing....

September 17, 2007  08:45 AM ET

Clausen's a slack-jawed yokel!

September 17, 2007  08:46 AM ET

He's a cross-eyed nancy-boy

September 17, 2007  08:46 AM ET

yeah he is.

September 17, 2007  08:48 AM ET

Wow...I didn't realize he promised that...if that is the case I hope he gets pummled even worse in the coming weeks...thanks for clearing things up for me THE TRUTH...I always feel secure with the info you put forth.

September 17, 2007  08:49 AM ET

This sounds more like the Michigan LB was doing the talking. And he may want to check the standings.

September 17, 2007  08:49 AM ET

I do like the picture though...looks like a defensive line meeting that was scheduled to meet at the QB position...

September 17, 2007  08:55 AM ET

That's a Wolverine samwich...with a pickle in the middle!

September 17, 2007  08:56 AM ET

Go BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are BACK! What? Hold a sec.....ND's has NO positive rushing yardage after 3 games? WTF? Nevermind.....gotta focus on Penn St.

September 17, 2007  08:57 AM ET

Does anyone else think that he might just be another Clausen? Sure he put up mega-numbers in high school, but that was high school.

It's easy for a loser to talk, but it's hard for him to be successful at it.

September 17, 2007  09:01 AM ET

I'm with you TRUTH...good win, we looked a little like our old selves but it was against a team that is yet to score an offensive TD this year...next week will be a totally different story and we better prepare for it because I don't think Joe Pa and his lions are a joke this year, they look very strong in almost all categories of the game.

September 17, 2007  09:02 AM ET

Let us remember that Clausen was home-schooled and his team was in a 7man football league

September 17, 2007  09:06 AM ET

Beano Cook had Penn St. as one of his title game participants..course he had them playin' Fordham so I don't know what's going to happen boys and girls.

September 17, 2007  09:13 AM ET

Penn State worries me a lot actually. Their receivers are pretty quick, and as we all know Michigan has a problem when they face teams with great speed.

As far as Clausen goes, what do you expect. He looks like a cocky little know it all.

September 17, 2007  09:21 AM ET

Wow....crappy Michigan whipped up on crappy Notre Dame....this is hardly news worthy.

The media is already trying to boost ratings for the upcoming Notre Dame vs Michigan State game....good luck.

September 17, 2007  09:23 AM ET

Look out for Penn State to really control the special teams part of the game. Their punt and kickoff guys are very strong and they have a good fieldgoal kicker. My guess is that is where Joe Pa will try to control the game. He'll take over with field position and keep us pinned most the game if he can. As bad as ND is, look at their special teams this past weekend. If it wasn't for penalties and mistakes they would have had a lot better field position on a lot of drives and against Penn State there won't be a lot of mistakes and penalties.
