08:35 AM ET 08.18 | He's traded his ancient shoulder pads for a suit. Instead of skate blades, his job requires razor blades. "Yeah, it's grown-up time, I guess," said Brendan Shanahan, 41, less than a year since officially "retiring" and becoming the league's vice president of hockey and business development. "I said to somebody the first few weeks, 'The hardest thing for me was shaving every morning.'" The grooming of Shanahan continues with the NHL's Research, Development and Orientation Camp on Wednesday and Thursday in Toronto.

The whole article is worth reading. Please Shanny dont get too close to the dwarf. Your well respected on all sides and that might be hard to pull off if you get in with Garys mafia too tightly.
Would have loved to see him on the union side tellin Bettman to go fleck himself.

I fully agree. Remember the old saying Shanny, "He who lies down with dogs rises with fleas."

The title alone sounds like quite a work load. Curious that someone who made all this guys $$$ wants to jump into a white collar position that will require a lot of time and a continuation of frequent travel? In Garys next defensive move he hires Chelios to a league position and the starts new talks on a collective agreement....

Boy, he sure looks like he could suit right up. Some really good, and great players have retired in the last couple years from the Wings, Brett, Stevie, Shanny, Chelly, Dominator, and probably Lindstrom soon. Some great times.

Speaking of great retired guys my Flames have signed Michelle Goulet as a head western Scout. That is good news and further good news is he reports to Feaster not Duhryl.

That's cause Duhryl thought they said Robert Goulet and he didn't care who sung the anthems.

As long as it isn't that girl who forgot the words, well the American anthem, then slipped and fell on the ice

G.Ari Beatermunch is on a crusade - suck up all the possibles that the NHLPA could congeal around. It's Union busting without a doubt - and they aren't even a Union. Don't know if the NHL owners are 100% on this kind of business - 'cause these sorts of things really have a way of back-firing on the 'brine-trust'. Third times the charm, Leperkorn.

I'm with ya on that notion, as he would do it very well! Telling Bumpman off that is!!

That he is, and he is doing it because there isn't anyone to tell him to goflock himself! He's a coward, and very overpaid for these services, and for goodness sakes, GET RID OF THE PHOENIX, and move em back to Canada, where they belong!!!!!
