08:18 AM ET 08.19 | In the wake of a fourth consecutive loss, the Cards are looking for an answer to their hole at third base. Several club officials described the club's attempt to add a player as "becoming more aggressive," even to the point that the team may not wait for potential targets to be placed on waivers in the coming week. ... According to various reports, Toronto third baseman Edwin Encarnacion and Houston infielder Geoff Blum have both cleared waivers. Encarnacion, a former Cincinnati Red, is an enigmatic talent with the potential for power at the position. The Cardinals also have interest in Detroit's Brandon Inge, a slick glove at third and a versatile fielder whose waiver status is unclear.

I remember several years ago when Edwin was a hot sleeper pick at 3B fantasy wise. That panned out real well, eh?

Good lord. They definitely need help at third.......but these guys are not the answer. Inge would be the only one of the three I'd be interested in at all.

Yes, he was....key word WAS! I wouldn't have him on my team if he were the only 3rd baseman left on the planet!

They need the help but I'm with you - maybe Inge!

Basically they swept the Reds in Cincinnati and then came home and played like zombies against the crappy Cubs and the mediocre Brewers. The Cards have a tendency to play to their level of competition, and seem to come out flat against weaker teams.
It's really annoying.

Inge is the only one on the list better than what we're currently putting on the field.
The others would be a wasted effort as far as I'm concerned.

TenRings, the Braves have the same problem against the Nats and D-backs. not sure what that's about, but you're right, it's annoying.

Oh Crud... now I have to hear the chants of "Deal David Wright to the Cardinals for pitching and prospects" all day from fellow Mets fans.
It's going to be a long day...

Ack! I had him on my team last year. Thank God he got hurt and I picked up some mediocre player instead, which mind you was a huge improvement. What was he hitting before going on the DL? Something like a buck ten, or something horrific.

At least they took care of business against the Nats this time. I was glad to see Nyger Morgan out of the lineup. Most of the time he sucks, but is somehow great against the Braves. Adam Dunn has literally struck out almost every at bat this series.

Now that the Cubs have started selling off their pieces...How about Aramis Ramirez at 3rd. He's an upgrade defensively, and could fill part of the void left when Ludwick was traded.
