Broncos will try to save Tebow from himself

08:06 AM ET 08.20 | Tim Tebow was just being Tim Tebow. Though no one questioned the wisdom of Tebow's full-body hurdle into a two-tackler sandwich, and touchdown, on the final play of the Broncos' preseason game Sunday at Cincinnati, the play encapsulated the overriding concern of how the 245-pound quarterback is willing to put himself in harm's way. "You've got to choose between smart decision and toughness," Broncos cornerback Andre Goodman said. "But when it's in you, it's in you. It's hard to run it off. I would imagine it's going to be tougher for him to learn that than most quarterbacks. I was watching him pace the sideline for the first half. You should have seen the look he had. He couldn't wait to get in the game."

Why? Regardless of his perceived skill level, it is heartening to see a player that so much *wants* to play. With all the money-grubbing slackers out there now, finally we have a player whose attitude hearkens back to the older, better days.
JaCarcass easily had better, tangible, innate skills, but who would you rather have on your team? Russell or Tebow?

Welcome to the NFL! The hits are a little harder and sting longer don't they? You can't always be flying around on the field like the good old days. But don't worry....YOU ARE SAVED. Oh praise thee you are saved!

He's a rookie. If he isn't out there giving it his all would you want him on the team?

He wants to start. He wants to impress the coach, and he took those lumps to do it.
I like that. I like guys that play the game full-tilt-boogie on every play. Yeah, the press sometimes makes him out to be "the annointed one," but that one play says more than any press release.

Then he better go visit the Rockies clubhouse and have someone teach him to slide really well.

And this demonstrates why there was so much press last year about whether or not he'd be an "NFL quarterback." Most coaches and GMs don't want a QB who's primary instinct is to do-it-all-myself first, or at least first-and-a-half. It might get a score, but with the likelihood of injury, such a score would eventually be a Pyhric victory.

Well-stated. All this guy wants to do is play well and help his teams win. Most of the backlash against this guy has resulted from the media types tripping over themselves to fawn over him.

Lesson number one...what worked in college ball doesn't necessarily work in Pro ball. Besides, they hit alot harder in the pros. Guess Tebow got a little taste the other day.

Give the guy some credit. Atleast he is trying to earn his paycheck.

Tebow is a football player, period! What player isn't at risk anytime they hit the field? This article holds about as much weight as Nicole Richie on a crack binge!

The one they had yesterday, was the most popular thread, That's only because all the Madden guys were talking on it.

Surprising, isn't it? I doubt the interns will make it through the weekend without giving us a thread regarding His Favreness.

The popular thread has no rhyme or reason. We just pick a thread and everyone gravitates towards it.

Lately there's been a "secondary" thread for those of us who want to talk about something other than Fat John's Video Game. Yesterday it was the Eli thread.
