'Dazzling' Spiller ready to take over?

08:09 AM ET 08.20 | Though his coach was later in "downplay" mode, C.J. Spiller made quite an impression in Toronto, including a TD run. The darting, artful-dodging 31-yard touchdown was everything you need to know about why the Buffalo Bills drafted Spiller with the ninth overall pick in April's draft. ... Spiller got the start because of injuries to Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch in last week's preseason opener. The way Spiller performed Thursday, Jackson and Lynch might find out how Wally Pipp felt when replaced by Lou Gehrig.

Yes you did.

It will be a lot harder in a real game against the starters, particularly once they start keying on him.

August 20, 2010  08:27 AM ET

What an absolutely ridiculous statement to equate this to Wally Pipp-Lou Gehrig. These writers...good grief!

Probably the best thing about this team is their fans. Some of the worst weather in the NFL, an ancient turd for an owner, and a team that goes nowhere every year. Sometimes they have to deal with Homeland Security just to get to a "home" game.

And still they go out and party game after game, year after year. Give the fans the game ball. They're the only ones in Buffalo who deserve it.

Any fan that sits out in the cold weather, to watch their team, is OK in my book.

In the winter in Buffalo it's either that or curling.

Anyone that sits out in the cold weather to watch their team LOSE is OK in my book. It's easier when you're backing a winner.

Spiller is certainly one reason to watch Buffalo; maybe the only reason...

I dunno... still too much "Rosie" for my tastes.

But - I'm not 91 years old, either. Go for it!

When you're that age and have that much $$$, you're considered "eccentric".

Go for it, indeed.
