10:00 AM ET 08.21 | Sometimes, you just know these opposing pitchers are auditioning to become Yankees down the road. But four years from now, when Felix Hernandez's contract is expiring, he'll say he won't re-sign with woeful Seattle and that's when he'll become a Yankee in a trade. Or maybe he'll wait, then sign as a free agent. Either way, everybody's aces become Yankees, sooner or later, for better or worse.

What a bs "rumor". Yes the Yankees have a fat wallet. However, next year is 1AB. 1 year after the boss has died.

Who is to say whether Hank will spend the way his father did? One thing is for certain, just because a pitche is an ace does not mean he will be a yankee.

Why even write this?

maybe hernandez will become a yankee but not oswalt he is just too impredictable, at times pitch well but then he tend to pitch poor most of the time!!

it looks like the seatle team it becomes to be a nother pirates, the mariners have to continue play lousy baseball for the next ten years and they easyly beat the pirates in loses!

I forsee that this thread will be full of the reasons people hate Yankees fans once it gets going.

I'm I Giants fan and I think this move would be Awesome. A good player goes to a team that he has the best chance of winning. Whats not to like about that?

What makes anyone think he will still be King in four years? Yeah, he's only 24, but four years in MLB is a very long time. Seems early to be kicking this one around.

this article right here is the exact reason everyone hates the New York Yankees !
it is no wonder why Kansas City and Seattle and Pittsburgh will never be able to compete with the vultures already circling for a guy who is 3-4 years away from being available.

I don't understand baseball. Why do poor teams (like the sorry-**** Mariners) always wind up trading their top talent to better teams? Why don't the get rid of the non-performing trash and keep and build around their better players?I think this phenomenon only happens in baseball.

Most of the Time Those Sorry teams Throw tons of Money at 2nd and 3rd tier Free agents. And don't have money to keep Young Talent.

A lot can happen in 4 years.

August 21, 2010  05:05 PM ET

"four years from now"

A player must have 6 years of experience to become a free agent. Felix has 5 years of service in the majors which makes me wonder why he signed a 4 year deal? Why not sign a 1 year deal and sign with the Yankees in FA?

Why are we talking about something that is 5 years away? The Mariners could be a powerhouse by then. There will be players in the league that haven't graduated high school yet. Let's not talk about guys that will be free agents in 2016.

Just so everyone in New York knows, just because you can embarrass the Yankees a few times a year, doesn't mean you want to be a Yankee.
