11:09 AM ET 08.21 | The Red Sox have not shut down Dustin Pedroia for the season, but if the team continues to struggle, there may not be much to come back to. "I'm upset man," said Pedroia. "I feel like I let everybody down. I can't really do too much. I tried. So hopefully it heals up and I'll get back in there."

The Red Sox are 6.5 games back in the Division and 5.5 back in the wildcard with a little over a month to go. They show no signs of being able to put together a run. It's time to shut down Pedroia and give some young player a chance to prove himself.

Agreed. Barring a meltdown by one or more teams and a sudden resurgence I have no expectations will occur, the Sox are toast this year. See ya in the spring Pedey...let that foot heal and come back in '11 ready to go.

True Gamer Dustin Pedroia is there in Boston-- Red Sox need him as long as the foot holds-up and they are still in contention...

Rather see Pedey back 100 percent then to have him keep going back on the DL..

and in the process causing what could turn out to be serious damage to the foot. Shut him down and add years to his career rather than deduct......

it'll depend on where they stand when he's off the dl, if they have a shot to make the post season, he'll play if not he'll be done till spring...

He needs to hit up Sloppy Papi.....get some JUICE......or maybe look for Manny's hidden stash.

The problem is not Pedroia or Ellsbury or Youk............it's Papelbon........until they get a consistent closer they're not going ANYWHERE........including this year.
