Why are Chargers limiting Jackson trade talks?

11:41 AM ET 08.21 | The Chargers have given the Seahawks permission to negotiate a contract with receiver Vincent Jackson, the first step toward a possible trade. But there's a catch. We've confirmed that the Chargers have given permission only to the Seahawks. Also, it's our understanding that the Chargers have given no indication as to the compensation they'd want, if the Seahawks and Jackson can work out a deal. Though the Chargers' intentions remain unclear, one thing is clearer than a StarCaps' users urine. This isn't the way to go about trading a player. Even if the Chargers are reluctant to consider trading Jackson to an AFC West rival, they should be willing to open the bidding at a minimum to other NFC teams.

I originally thought losing him would be a bad thing... but after seeing some of their young receivers, I'm not so sure.

They are trying to keep the pressure on Jackson. Believe me getting on a plane in San Diego and off a plane in Seattle should serve as a stark reminder of how good he has it. Too bad they couldn't have done it in February or March.

I'm guessing you haven't spent much time in Seattle.

I'm thinking if Jackson keeps up his drinking habits, that driving in Seattle, will be markedly different than driving in San Diego...

"clearer than a starcaps users urine"? WTF? Who writes this crap?

Like to see him end up in Seattle. Seahawks need him. Chargers are fine without him.

I sure would hate to see San Diego loss a talented offensive weopon like Vincent Jackson; But if the Chargers only option is to trade Jackson, might as well be traded to a team like the Seattle Seahawk; where he can step right in and be a cornerstone in helping things get turned around correctlly. The change of sceenry may help...
San Diego should open up the bidding to the rest of the league though.... if they were to they could come away with a better return package for Vincent Jackson from abother team than they will wind-up with from Seattle... Do not think (SD) want Whitehurst back in return.
