Jim Brown to snub Browns' Ring of Honor fete

Jim Brown, arguably the greatest Browns player of all time, does not plan to participate in the club's inaugural Ring of Honor ceremony at the home opener Sept. 19. The profound snub speaks to the suddenly frosty relations between the franchise and its greatest player. Brown had been very visible since the franchise returned in 1999 and was named an executive adviser to owner Randy Lerner a few years ago with a six-figure salary.
Brown had the title removed by Mike Holmgren shortly after Holmgren joined the Browns as team president in January. Holmgren offered a reduced role for Brown, and a pay cut, but Brown declined.

Don't sweat it, Jim; the economy is doing pretty poorly and we've all had to deal with paycuts.
In all seriousness, this is a respect issue. Looks like Holmgren walked in the door and just slapped him in the face. Better show some respect for a Cleveland icon.

After the way they treated him recently, I can't say that I blame him for turning down the the invite, he's been the face of the franchise for years, and this is how they repay him? Such a sad state of affairs in Cleveland.
