08:52 AM ET 08.22 | Dez Bryant's optimistic goal that he would be back for the final two pre-season games appears to have slipped away. The Cowboys first round pick has not been cleared to resume practice when the team returns to Oxnard for the final six days of training camp. When asked if he expected Bryant to be able to practice with the team at some point this week, head coach Wade Phillips said: "I wouldn't think so. They (training staff) told me the first game.'' That would be against Washington on Sept. 12.

Well this well make cowboy dave happy.

I want to see this guy play, but this is a very good decision by the Cowboys staff. I'm sure Cowboy fans would rather see Dez suited up and ready to go when the playoff picture starts to unfold rather than in preseason, which really doesn't mean anything. Let the guy get healthy before getting him in; it's too much of a risk to have that big injury and be out the entire year.

I have stuffed him in the closet for the time being. Don't worry, though; he's not alone. He has two jacka.sses, Geddy Lee, a shamrock, Lennie from Of Mice and Men, and Roger from Lord of the Flies to keep him company.

Is that where float got his az pic?

August 22, 2010  09:18 AM ET

No surprise...

August 22, 2010  09:35 AM ET

It is a long season, and like the big guy said, " It is a marathon, not a race."

August 22, 2010  10:46 AM ET

I would be tempted to wait a couple more weeks just to be sure, but I am really stoked to watch him, Austin and Witten work together.

August 22, 2010  10:56 AM ET

Cowboys are dropping like flies.....at the beginning of the summer season Dallas was returning like 20-21 of the 22 starters from last year. I hope they can field 15 of 22 on Sept 12 against the Skins....ouch.

August 22, 2010  10:56 AM ET

Oh and Dez throws like a girl.....

August 22, 2010  11:07 AM ET

This is not news. Totally expected. It's been fun watching Roy Williams miss balls and fall down all over the field. <yawn>. But the team did have an enjoyable train ride from Oxnard to San Diego the other day.

August 22, 2010  11:17 AM ET

I sure hope this guy turns into the second coming of Mr. Moss. He already has the attitude, but I will put up with that for 1400 yards and 17 TDs his rookie year. Let's go boys.

These interns troll countless sites to make everyone look the fool. I think they could find a bad photo of Megan Fox!

All kidding aside I didn't know the guy was left handed. Maybe Jason will come with an end around option pass from Dez.......what could possibly go wrong? Wait Dez throwing to Roy Williams with Tony Romo and Miles Austin on the other side of the field.....Jason G Special!!

I swear there was a stretch of 4 games in a row last year I was able to call the 80 percent of the offensive plays and I don't watch game film. I can only imagine what would have happened if we let Payton be the head coach.

August 22, 2010  11:40 AM ET

*call 80 percent. Sorry about that.

Is it me or in that photo does he look like Lamar Latrell's brother?

And Roy Williams catches like one... no offense to girls.

"We've engineered a special football that allows for it to travel through the air more smoothly given Dez's awkwardly effeminate throwing motion."
