Uncertainty for Red Bull Racing next season

06:43 AM ET 08.23 | With Brian Vickers expected to rejoin Red Bull Racing next season after undergoing heart surgery, questions are starting to surface about who might get the axe from the team. "Next year we know what the situation is with Kasey. Again, with Brian, we're very hopeful and Scott needs to pick up his performance. And he can," Red Bull GM Jay Frye said. "With Scott, we're coming to the third and fourth race in his career at different race tracks. We need to see some sort of improvement. We need to see where the curve is moving forward in the next few months." Though Speed signed an extension in May, the performance clause of a 16th-place finish in the points could put his Red Bull future in jeopardy as the team preps for Kasey Kahne's one-year stint next season.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Boys, this is a NO BRAINER! Scott Speed has had his chances and is just flatly another open wheeler (along with Sam Hornish) who just can't drive a Cup Car well enough to be a serious contender. Theres no way you can compare Speed to Vickers in a Cup Car.

Agreed, but Red Bull needs to accept some blame. Jimmy Elledge had Scott Speed running pretty decent and then Red Bull decided to swap crew chiefs.

at 6:43 AM on a MONDAY too...

Good Morning, ya all ;)

On Jayski not long after Red Bull got Kahne, Jay Frye was talking of maybe three teams next year, #82 Speed, #83 Vickers, ?? #84 Kahne

And if Speed is let go, maybe his buddy Kyle can get him a job at JGR

I think the third car would more likely be the #81 or #80 or #85. One of the things I respected about Red Bull was that when Speed came to Cup, they made him use the #82 instead of the #84, because they felt that was Allmendinger's number.

Anyone see Sat nite's race??

What race? The most exciting thing that happened was Johnson getting wrecked...

If auto racers are athletes, as some claim, then so are taxi drivers.

Let's not start that discussion again...I'm too old.

no kidding.. you probably remember, like me, seeing NFL players on the sidelines having a smoke when the offense or defense was on the field.. I guess they werent athletes at all in some peoples minds today.

The highlight Saturday WAS JJ getting wrecked, wasn't it? And seeing the look on Chad's face. I enjoyed that part a lot.

Yes, yes it was great. JPM may have earned a few fans with that little incident.

My only other comment on it is that it is publicly known that Johnson does not like JPM, and considers him as bad as Hornish, Scott Speed, etc.

If that is what you think, then why do you bother coming here? Hard up for things to bi+ch about, are we?
