Commissioner makes Crawford wait

Joe Crawford went to New York on July 31 hoping to learn whether he would be able to resume his career as an NBA referee. After a lengthy meeting with commissioner David Stern and league executives Joel Litvin, Stu Jackson and Ronnie Nunn, he left without an answer. That came yesterday, when Stern officially reinstated Crawford. The commissioner suspended Crawford indefinitely April 17 after an April 15 confrontation with San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan. It appears that Stern waited until after Crawford went through his session with Lawrence Pedowitz, the former federal prosecutor hired by the league to oversee a review of its policies concerning gambling, the referees and all aspects of the basketball operations department.

He doesn't deserve a second chance. He's a primadonna. He's the exact opposite of what you want in a ref. He should be canned or retired now. Another bad move by Stern in a summer full of them.

I'm hoping/assuming he won't be doing any Spurs games.
